Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

Mazel Tov Antioch, and I'm hoping you're correct but why is this all being done in the last few days leading up to the games? If QU is such a Mecca, their media relations should've had this solved months ago...I'm honestly thrilled that 3300 will be going nuts this weekend but for the NCAA website not to have this yet is just numb!! Thanks for the info though....hope it's accurate!

Helloooooooo, .......................NCAA runs the show. Need I say more?

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

QU has nothing, as in zero, to do with anything broadcast related. That's all on the NCAA.

Even if NCAA controls all arrangements for streaming/live stats, there is still absolutely NO REASON why QU could not simply state on the Frozen Four website that these services will be provided, and that the links will be available as of _______. Otherwise, they are implying that there will be none available.

Well, aside from you inferring what I don't see as implied, I think you need to get a better handle on what QU having no control over anything to with any broadcasts means as to their capacity to go around posting information about broadcasts.

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

Not meaning to QU bash, just ****ed that you can find out the broadcast schedule for softball now, a couple,of months ahead of its need, but 2 days ahead here, there Is no mention on any website for the streaming....just frustrated and po'd at the norm for the NCAA....the acceptance by everyone that this is the way it's done so chilax....

Believe me, I completely understand the frustrations of dealing with the incompetence of governing bodies. I was actually on the exec of a World Championships local organizing committee what seems like a lifetime ago. There are ALWAYS work-arounds with these things communications-wise so at least those on the front line don't come off looking completely incompetent too. Sometimes it even means POing them by overstepping a bit, and also hounding them ad nauseum to get things moving. I really can't imagine the world would end if the FF site said something like: "Frozen Four semi-finals and finals games will be streamed and livestats will be provided courtesy of the NCAA. Please refer to NCAA.com closer to game time for the appropriate links."

If no one ever raises a fuss, it's guaranteed that nothing's ever going to change.

The only reason I'm not ****ed about it is because I'll be there in person so I'm not looking to stream. My objection is just that anger directed at Quinnipiac is misplaced, because this is not their problem. This is all on the NCAA. No, the world wouldn't end if the school put a note on its webpage but there's a decent chance they would be in violation of their contract if they did so.

Quinnipiac University is awesome. The campus is beautiful. The arena is a great place to watch a hockey or basketball game. Everyone who attends the games this weekend will walk away really impressed. I cannot wait to see the games. Go Bobcats!!!

Thanks mnpokecheck....I'm chillaxing now....but I do agree with Trillium's point. Eeyore, as Hux mentioned about espy, you might be right about broadcast rights as well....hope everyone, either in Hamden or watching online, enjoys the efforts of these women!

There is a reason that the Quinnipiac men's and women's hockey teams have done so well the last few years. QU has become a college hockey mecca.
Listen, I love the Q as much as anyone. But there are several teams with nice arenas who have had a couple decent seasons. This does not make all of them a "college hockey mecca." Let's not get carried away.

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

That's not to say I'm not expecting to be thrilled with QU's hosting of the FF. I'm just saying let's pump the brakes a bit on the "college hockey mecca" thing. How many college hockey meccas are there?

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

Depends how you define it. In the grander sense, region rather than school I'd say Beantown and Twin Cities, with multiple local teams are probably the two mecca's.

If you look at it from an individual school/history point of view, you are looking at places like Harvard, UNH, Brown, North Eastern and Providence. All teams with a storied past.

I get the past, but don't they need a little more present to be considered meccas? Providence has never won a game in the NCAA tourney and Northeastern hasn't qualified for the event. Compare that with Wisconsin -- at or near the top in attendance, new arena, national power today. I'd say Wisconsin is a modern mecca, while some of the others you list are more like meccas of the ancient world.

Matthews Arena for sure. But despite the lack of success for Providence in the post-season, referring to Schneider Arena an "ancient mecca" made me feel very old! ;)

Classic has a better ring, but I'm older than DC, so I won't be throwing any stones her way. I'll leave it to you to explain why you thought relic would be a good label to hang on her, and I'll search for a graceful way out of this …

Yeah, I'd really like to see Matthews Arena some day. :)

Not touching the first part with a 10 ft pole...

But we would love to have you ARM, grab front row seat in the balcony and enjoy a game. How about you talk Minny in to playing a game there?
