Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

But we would love to have you ARM, grab front row seat in the balcony and enjoy a game. How about you talk Minny in to playing a game there?
Coach Frost, like all intelligent beings, ignores my input completely. The Beanpot is on my bucket list, and were that to be a Matthews year, that would be an added bonus. Of course, the "bucket" could potentially come before completing the list.

We should have it in 2017. Great time to come.

Also looks like I will be at Quinny Sunday if you will still be around. This is going to be one of the few games I have attended that I have no vested interest in either team.

You'll find them to be highly entertaining, and certainly more relaxing. Good thing, because the old relic's heart probably couldn't take the excitement:p

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

Depends how you define it. In the grander sense, region rather than school I'd say Beantown and Twin Cities, with multiple local teams are probably the two mecca's.
.

Actually in the grandest sense of all hockey-wise, Toronto is Mecca.* :D
(Though I acknowledge we were talking college hockey)

*excluding NHL hockey, as Eeyore pointed out.

Classic has a better ring, but I'm older than DC, so I won't be throwing any stones her way. I'll leave it to you to explain why you thought relic would be a good label to hang on her, and I'll search for a graceful way out of this …

Yeah, I'd really like to see Matthews Arena some day. :)

:D :D ...... I did not mean to start a "relic" discussion.

ARM, do agree that the "Modern Era" mecca's should include Wisco. I'm a history/nostalgia type of person, but you can look at it both ways. For example, for Marathon runners Boston is the hallowed grail, history galore. For the Modern Era that mantle goes to NY, Chicago, and Internationally London, Rotterdam and Berlin. Like all things it is a personal preference, and in the case of Marathoning, it will always be Boston, and off course the Olympics/Greece, but most don;t get to go there.

Long story short, Mecca is the place where the pioneers build the sport. For the Marathon that is Boston, for College Hockey (In the US at least) that is Brown and UNH. In Canada it is Queens and McGill.

Mecca: A place that is regarded as the center of an activity or interest.

Brown. No.

Would like to ask Fred Davenport where the sellout was this weekend because it surely wasnt in Hamden! Forget about that prediction for SRO....not even close to being half full....

Yeah only so many can stand by the railing. Will be interesting to compare the attendance vs. capacity...only looked about half full to me.

Maybe they should announce before the game that anyone caught leaving their seat will be arrested...(as they did before the first game with respect to anyone caught rushing the ice, if I recall it correctly).

All the awaited late comers must have worked overtime.

Sunday's crowd should be telling.

Maybe a service should be offered for those who bought tickets early but whose team didn't make it so they lost interest in going to the event and the game.

They call in to be placed on a list to have their tickets resold (for a service fee of course) and if their tickets are resold they get refunded their purchase price minus the service fee. Even if the service fee charged was as high as 50%...the other 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing.

Maybe this would be too much hassle for the ticket provider? Would be a way to increase the average revenue per ticket without changing the price of the tickets.

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

The WCHA box score says 3171 in attendance. Must be total attendance for the day.

Re: Quinnipiac - Site of the 2014 NCAA Frozen Four

I was there. People were coming and going throughout both games. It looked to me like a good percentage of the crowd left after the first game, replaced by a wave of people for 2nd game. SRO would have required everyone to be there for both games, which clearly didn't happen. Facility is 1st class... and big.

Apparently the Internet can't get up the hill. The WiFi was "too slow" at the vending areas, creating ridiculous lines.

WiFi has been slow at any Frozen Four I've ever attended. I don't know if its because every media member in the building is sitting there streaming some other sporting event or what the problem is, but sometimes you can't get any response at all. At least these days, a person can resort to their personal hotspot to get some level of service.

You're right! The facilities and organisation for the girls are professionals A1 but what a mess for tickets reservation logistic! They reserved too much seats for the universities. They could have sold many more tickets for the general public who could not get tickets online!

How long ago was this event "Sold out". ?

When I went in years past, I would just get tickets of others.
