Quinnipiac Bobcats 2023-24 Regular Season - Embrace the grind

That game easily could have gone either way. I am a QU guy, wishing BC the best to win the whole thing...! Getting ready for next season now.

Me too. After seeing some tweets today on X from BC fans, I've jumped on the Eagles bandwagon for the remainder of the playoffs.

Here's just a sample of what some BC fans are saying about Quinnipiac...

@bcinterruption
"Don’t think it can be overstated just how good Quinnipiac was yesterday. They defend like an NHL team. Relentless, organized, speedy, and didn’t give BC many looks in the 3rd (just 4 shots). They will be back.

BC has only ever beaten Quinnipiac twice all time - both this season, and both in overtime after absolute slugfests. The way they play has been really tough on BC through the years which makes yesterday’s monumental effort by the Eagles even more impressive"

@MarkArduino
"Well said. Of all the bracket games Quinnipiac was the biggest hurdle IMO due to the reasons you cite. They beat a loaded MN team last year & don’t boast a ‘NHL draft cornucopia’ lineup. They outwork you despite being lean / undersized. Rand Pecknold has built a grade A program."

@adamar108
"I've been saying all weekend that Quinnipiac and Cornell are better than the PWR (and probably most people) gave them credit for. They unfortunately were just dinged by the rest of their league being pretty bad."

Thank you, BC fans and good luck!

I'm still not a fan of Andy Powers, though. ;-)

While the end was disappointing, this team showed a ton of heart, giving a tremendous BC team everything they could handle.

This season confirms what many QU fans already knew. That this program is a new blue blood in college hockey.

Word has it that Quillan signs with Toronto Maple Leafs

Sorry to see him go, but congrats to Jacob.

Quillan will report to the Leafs' AHL team, the Toronto Marlies on an amateur try-out for the remainder of their season.

I’m hearing Tellier to the portal as well.

I saw a post on X yesterday that implied we had 2 confirmed. I assumed it was Tellier after Fillion announced. Could they possibly be a package deal? I recall an interview with Phil G a few games ago and got the feeling they were gone one way or the other.

Just saw Heinke on Schlossman's blog as well. Also saw Ian Murphy from Princeton. I really liked his game. Besides Q games, I saw him play against a few other teams at Hobey.

Is next year a bit of a rebuild? We have some very good players coming back (Legault, Marcellus, maybe Lipkin, etc.). Maybe with some portal additions we are still very good, but it's hard to see us as a natty contender as currently constituted. That being said, I won't sell Rand short. He deserves every benefit of the doubt.

Way too early to say right now. Have to wait and see what the roster looks like. We're always (at least) very good, so I imagine we'll be just fine. I wouldn't have called us a national title contender this year -- those seasons, as we've seen, are few and far in between and it's unreasonable to expect a team like that every year.

I would have agreed about not being a title contender this year but after giving the #1 team everything they could handle, it turns out we were. Find a way to win that game and we would be back playing Michigan. I watch a fair amount of Michigan hockey. They are playing their best hockey of the season but they are not as good as their teams from the past 2 years that we played in the tournament. They also may be missing their #1 dman (Seamus Casey).

Well anyway, what's done is done. At the end of the day this season certainly was not a disappointment and I trust Rand to know what needs to be done. As you say, we will surely be very good. Making the tournament is not an unreasonable expectation, even not knowing yet how the roster shakes out.

Not sure about you guys but I just saw Cornell may only lose Seger? They look like the ECAC favorite next year.

Read what some of the Superfans are saying about Q and Rand in the BC thread on here and I bet we can get you to jump to the BU wagon for the remainder of this season :-)
