Quinnipiac Bobcats 2022-23: The Quest Continues...

SHU had a huge following on Friday and UConn was very well represented Saturday, so tickets were available.

Equitable for all the schools? Maybe not, but again, we're not privy to what went on behind the scenes. Since the season ticket packages included these tickets, whatever decisions made were made last summer. Next years host can do the same thing and I'll be ok with it as long as there's a TV/stream option.

Yes both SHU and UCONN were well represented and the majority of our section was either SHU or UCONN fans depending on the game. After UCONN scored during the Saturday championship game the UCONN cheer was quite vigorous and loud by those attending.

For the record, there is a major difference between intentionally keeping other fans out, and our season-ticket base being so large that there weren't a lot of tickets available to split between the teams. So no, we didn't keep other fans out - but due to the size of our season-ticket base and the fact it's only a 3,800 seat arena, there just weren't a lot of tickets to go around.

Just saw Rands tweet and ran on here to post it haha. You beat me to it. Good for Rand

What a complete game played by a more experienced and disciplined squad. One of the most complete games they’ve played in a long time…..15 NHL draft picks undermined by grit…determination and urgency

Overall a good weekend even if they did make it interesting at Dartmouth. Dominated all statisical categories but Dartmouth hung strong on the strength of their goalie. The scoreboard looked dismal with 5 minutes left but Metsa found a way through Cooper Black to tie it, and Sam Lipkin lasered one from in close to put us ahead. A little insurance from De Jong and some help from undisciplined play by the Big Green allowed some breathing room to the final buzzer. No quit and no panic at all.

A huge 6-point weekend sweep!

Good weekend. Left no doubt from puck drop tonight. Graf was brilliant this weekend, what a pickup he was. Should absolutely be a Hobey Top 10 Finalist. Perets weekend sweep. At this point, Perets has to be right there for the Richter. Lot of other great play across the board, now let’s Beat Yale.

Graf is a beast……how did this kid not get recruited by the giants of cowledge hawkey?

I love that we are getting all the Western hate, it’s like my favorite thing ever to see the Western fanbases say we suck and haven’t played anyone. That “we’ll see how bad we are” when we play the 3rd best team in the NCHC or BigTen in the first round, hahaha.

No need to even engage (IceCat probably can’t help himself), think we are all confident in the squad. It made sense in 2012 when we had no track record of national success. Excited to see the boys prove themselves on the big stage later on, for now…BEAT YALE

Lol true Big Al! I guess when you’ve worn the jersey and actually represented the school…it’s a little more personal. When you’re NUMBER TWO in PAIRWISE….the “you haven’t played anyone” cries are pathetic….as long as they don’t troll on here…they can cry all they want on their pages. BC beat BU….figured that would have pushed us over MN and it’s 39 NHL draft picks into #1 slot in the PAIRWISE.
All ECAC NCAA final again….Qpac vs Harvard….callin it now lol

Even more reason to not engage, 99.9% of people on here didn’t play. Engaging in the mud is what Twitter is for haha

There has been a gap since we got swept. Aside from Minny losing, these little movements all add up and will matter if we take care of business from here on out. As you are aware, Lake Placid hasn’t been kind to us. But the BigTen will cannibalize itself (alittle) in their tournament.

Encourage everyone to listen to the first 5 mins of the Weekend Review podcast on USCHO. Thought they did a good job of stating where we are at in regards to the national scene. The Pairwise factors SOS was one point, so the Western fanbases complaining is irrelevant. Minnesota has lost 5 games more than us and are ahead in Pairwise so it’s obviously a large factor. They spoke about the dominance of Perets and most importantly they spoke about how we are elite on both offense and defense. We score 2.2 more goals a game then we give up, next best is Minnesota at 1.6. This is similar to the 2015-2016 team (1.8). Difference is Perets is better than Garteig and this year probably doesn’t have two NHL starters on the defense like we had in 20-5-2016. Should be interesting, our lack of high end offense was apparent against NoDak in the championship. Don’t think we necessarily have an overwhelming offense, but they’ve been consistent (2 goals or less in only 7 games).

Did I ask you what you think? Mind your own bees wax…..a troll from another team comes on this page because there is no “Cornell” page on USCHO fan forum. So again little fella….mind your own business…..sit down…and shut up

So you don't like trolls, eh? Then stop trolling the WI thread about Ty.

Especially from Minnesota fans. I've never seen a fan base care so much about being ranked #1 in February.

Reminds me of 2013 when we were first ranked #1 and Minnesota was #2. Gopher fans lost their minds and kept saying we were weak, played nobody, etc. "Just wait until the tournament!," they said. Yeah, the same tournament they lost in the first round to an ECAC school and QU advanced to the Frozen Four. Ooops!

My question is why don't these Western schools, like Minnesota, want to play us or any Eastern schools? Too scared? Seems like NoDak is the only one with any guts to fly out east. Why?

They clearly don’t want anything to do with the eastern teams. The farthest east they go is Penn St and Ohio St, cause they are forced to hahaha. Rand won’t go out West unless they come out East, which is 100% the right call. Minnesota doesn’t come east cause they can field a full home schedule with signing a home and home.

I can't comment on what other MN fans tell you, but if you think those of us who know hockey care about being #1 you're talking to the wrong people. Anyone who follows the game KNOWS Quinnipiac is a strong program. Almost a decade now of becoming a real threat each year. The ECAC is weak, but that's not QU's fault. This is not to say the B1G is the almighty either. The league is finally coming along the last couple years, but it wasn't much better 4-5 seasons ago. An intelligent MN fan should be stressed out right now because this year is our one chance for a while. We are going to lose a bunch of players after the season including the entire top line so it's an uneasy feeling in a way when you know this is it. #1 in the Pairwise is nice, but honestly being #1 sucks. Just look at how teams do this year when they get that tag. They just came out today saying that Faber and Chesley (two of our top 4 D) are now out injured so we might be limping in as the regular season winds down.

Regarding scheduling - I don't think the non-conference schedule is intentionally avoiding the east. The fact is we want to play our rivals like anyone else and that is what sells tickets. No matter how good or bad playing ND, UMD, St. Cloud etc. in the non-conf schedule those are the teams the fans want to play. We don't have rivalries historically with East teams with the exception of BU, but that hasn't been as significant since the 70-80's when they met in the playoffs a bunch.

Who knows, maybe this is the year we meet in the NCAA!? Best of luck to your team the rest of the way.

It's all about the Benjamin's! The western teams tend to not come east because the expense/reward isn't as lucrative. My memory may be a little off but NoDak, St. Cloud, Omaha, and Ohio State are the only western teams that have been to Hamden. Rand has said numerous times that he wants reciprocal deals (here this year, there the next) and I agree as that's fair to both schools.

And scheduling these days is very focused on PairWise opportunities as well. As strong non-con schedule is a good one.

Agree 100%. A lot of the big schools, MN included tend to want home games against the top teams so I understand completely reciprocity is important if they are going to schedule each other.
