Question, your tempered review (which we all love and look forward to) suggests "they still look like they are an NCAA team while Quinnipiac has shown inconsistent play from week to week." Question, "they" is UMASS - or - are you saying Bobcats still look like an NCAA team but sometimes look like a USHL showcase team that is on the ice for the first time with teammates?
These are very good hockey players, whether we fans see it or not, but they have yet to play consistently as a team - making it each other better scorers or defenders consistently enough to sustain winning hockey over 2.5 periods as a team.
I smell sweep because UMASS is coming in to play last year's team from memory, knowing they have to bring their A game and Bobcats have a B game for now...I agree they will have to grind out a split to have shot for an 'at-large' but my bet would be they get swept and I hope this gets posted in their locker room.
Until they play like they have nothing to lose, they will continue playing tentatively. That's part of growing as a team.....take the shot!
