Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

With my beloved "From the NIP to the Bank"'s URL quhockeyblog.com finally expired and years worth of content gone, I am pumped that you're doing this! Looks great and very well written. Awesome!

Thank you. I liked your blog and missed it when it went away. Thought it was time to get another one going. I will be doing this as much as I can this year. Likely previewing all games. Possible recaps. Recruiting news, etc.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

Think there are a couple things to take from the game tonight.

First off, I think Taverner has the chance to be this years Tim Clifton or Travis St Denis. Each of those guys took a giant leap from sophomores to juniors. I've always liked Taverner on the PP, but I think he's becoming a much more well rounded player who hopefully will continue to take leaps.

Chris Truehl made some ridiculous saves tonight. Defense was better, but still a lot of work to do. Truehl bailed them out multiple times. Hope Priskie is ok, brutal hit, although don't think it was intentionally malicious.

The offense appeared to have a more high end element to it tonight. Lot of top shelves. Encouraging to see some high end goals. We don't need a majority of them, but we will need a fair share of them in order to steal some games.

I feel better about the team tonight than I did when I woke up this morning. 30 more days like that, and I'll be the happiest man on the face of the earth.

This was a really solid win. Truehl was very good during this game. The offense came alive and for the 5th straight game they got out to a lead. They made a talented goaltender like Huska look bad for parts of this game. I'll take the win and move on. Anyone going to BU on Saturday? I'll be there.

How about Brogan Rafferty? The kid is a stud and has skills. Glad to see him with the highlight goal tonight.

Agreed on Taverner... seems to have elevated his game substantially. Sort of an unsung hero.

The PP still needs a lot of work. First time out tonight it was 3 D and 2 forwards. Rand will get it figured out I'm sure. D was better but far from where they need to be. Of course, down a man early put a bit more pressure on everyone, but I think they held their own most of the game.

A big difference on offense tonight was an aggressive forecheck. They haven't really shown that thus far.

All in all a good showing. Still lots of tweaks to be made but they seem to be putting it all together. Looking forward to the matchup at BU. That should be a really good indicator of where we are.

I'll be there with a buddy - let me know if/where you're grabbing a drink before the game.

Mark - totally agree. He was playing big minutes and on the PK and PP from day 1, so that's an indicator of how much trust the coaching staff had in him right away. Tonight was just a bonus with a flash of the skills he can bring to the table. So much upside - will be a fun one to watch!

I have tickets in section 116 row K.

Corner section next the student section.
Good sight lines - probably will get booed, and right next to me in 115 :D

Section 105 Row P for us

Seems right - this is usually the visitor's section, next to the secondary student section (that rarely fills with students anymore so no boos for you :p )

Hope you both enjoy Agganis!
