Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

Are you ever going to grace us with your presence up here in God's Country?
I'll get up there someday. I was going to try this weekend but you have too much going on up there (and I couldn't get today off). I want to experience the true Orono when I come. ;)

Pathetic final 10 plus minutes for Quinnipiac. Defensive breakdowns, too many penalties and lazy goaltending.

Derek Smith played as poor a game in the third period as he's probably capable of. Young team that needs to take a couple hard losses. Time to bounce back tomorrow

That's an awful, awful loss.

I thought QU looked pretty good in the first two periods. Maine did not seem to have an answer for our speed, they just don't have that kind of foot speed. They made some good adjustments to keep us from gaining clean zone entries in the third, and we never figured out the answer. Defensively, that was as bad as it gets for the final 25 minutes.

Very disappointing loss -- you can't lose up 2-0 after two, and up 3-1 with 10 minutes left, or whatever it was. That game has to be locked down. It's early, and they'll get better as the year goes on, but that's a really disappointing loss to a team that, frankly, has no business beating us. All due respect to them -- they've got some high-end kids (Vesey's a draft pick and his brother's in the NHL, for example), but they don't have the depth to stick with the Bobcats.

The good news is that we continue to see glimpses of what's going to make this team tick this year. They've got the talent to have another great season, but they're still figuring things out. Better now than in March. These are the growing pains you get with a young team.

I wonder if Rand goes back to Truehl tomorrow or goes with Shortridge. That 3rd Maine goal he was out of position badly after the initial save and left a huge rebound.

I'd hope he has a longer leash than that. Truehl was not the issue tonight. He made some great saves throughout the game. One bad one shouldn't get him yanked to the bench.

Not much he could do on the 2nd one that they put 5 hole through him. Lawrence is the clear #3.

No, that's not his fault. He's slidnig over after the pass, that's a goal 80% of the time. Honestly, he's not the reason QU lost tonight. At all. Goalies need help. He got none.

I honestly can't remember the last time a Quinnipiac team blew a 2 goal lead with 10 minutes left. This was a punch to the gut.

Agreed. The defense was very lazy, the team took too many penalties and you just can't have that happen and expect to win. I will say that Maine has improved vastly since last year but still this should have been a Quinnipiac win.

It was bad. But let's not lose sight that it's only game 3. They'll figure it out...

Without question. Sometimes you need a learn a tough lesson, and I definitely rather they learn that lesson in a non-con game than ECAC play. We'll forget this game even happened by January, hopefully.

Granted we need to temper expectations this year, but that was as bad a 3rd period I have seen out of this team in a long while. It was an across the board 3rd period flop - offense, defense & goaltending. No panic right now but I am certainty interested to see how this team responds.

2 weeks in a row they have blown a 3rd period lead that could have been a win. Last week in the final minute and this week a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes to play. SSS but definitely something to monitor especially with the loss of Reid Cashman who I feel had a huge influence on the defense.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2016-17 - It's 873 miles to Chicago...

The 2 captains can't be the worst players on the ice. Neither Connor or Derek have played to their potential thus far. Tim and Tommy haven't been much better. They need to grab this bull by the horns and make it happen.

I'll say it again just to keep perspective. We've been spoiled the past few seasons. There will be bumps in the road and we need to be able to deal with them. I truly believe these problems will be rectified and this team will make some noise.

Who wants to bet we see a very different effort tonight?
