Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015 Off-Season: "Thanks for the memories, Jack"
I would also like to say thank you to Jack McDonald. I was a senior when he came in and he made a positive impression on me as he attended the conference championship for a lower profile sport in which I participated. With all that he had going on, the fact that he took that time was appreciated. He was focused on raising Quinnipiac's athletic profile (along with the great student-athletes) and it has been a great sense of pride for many alumni and supporters.
I am going to miss the 4 guys leaving. Federico was a smart, steady minute eater for 3 full seasons. Good leadership and a overall great guy. Barron developed into one of my favorite unsung guys this year. Hustle, working hard - I thought he burned everything on every shift. Agosta got a lot of grief from fans that sat next to me but he was a decent offensive defensemen and a good addition. I got Peca way up the list in the top 5 of all time. Although he did not break all-time records, it was not always about goals & points with him. Face-offs, Kills, Defense, Leadership.... didn't shy away from the physical. Great, great all around player. I hope I get to see him on NHL Network or NBC Sports in the future.
In terms of the team next season - it will be interesting to see how the young guys develop. Defense is also going to be interesting. With 2 spots graduating, will freshmen take these spots or will a guy like Hilbrich finally seize the opportunity? Being listed at 6'6" 230, I assume his skating is what has kept him back. Sherbinin came in as a defensemen - does he slide back (I like him as a forward, so I hope not)?
I look forward to the new captains continuing to perpetuate the culture and work ethic to benefit the young guys.
