Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

I think the real reason some people get antsy when "other" posters come on here is we have some usual suspects that come on here and talk about nothing other than how they have the dirtiest scoop on Rand Pecknold from his past, our school sucks academically, etc, etc. I certainly welcome everyone on here. It is good to see some new names come across the page. Most of us stick to the Q thread and rarely comment on other teams threads, except when they beat us (so rarely this year ). At least I dont. Then there's Mark who is everyone's friend and loved by all. He gives us a good name

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Tip for those driving to the games. Four Green Fields a great Irish Pub at 205 West Platt St. allows you to park for free if you stop in for a meal or drink, about 1/4- 1/2 mile from the rink. Did the same for a sold out Tampa game. Another cool thing is a few open air bars on the plaza outside the rink, pay through the nose there though, arena type prices.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

I think it's my mouth they are referring to. Hahaha although it's more of a persona, most of everyone would understand that if they met me. I just like to "stir the pot" but hey idk anything

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

ya i get it lol, i'm not senile ..............yet;).......... Really strange here, you can't even be nice and respectful to these people and engage in hockey talk with them. If you aren't an ECAC or Q fan they basically ignore you. This is something i've noticed over the past couple of years because i do read their thread. Rarely does any of the posters on here respond to anyone outside their snotty circle. Then they play the disrespect card which is a total joke because if we didn't respect their program and think they are a major player we wouldn't bother with them.

I am a relative new comer to college hockey. This is my second season as Q fan and have been participating in this forum since day one. I generally look at other team threads when Q has an upcoming game against them. I have to say that the BC fans seem like a pretty sane bunch. There are some in the ECAC that despise Quinnipiac and have no trouble voicing their opinions on how they believe Q doesn't belong in the ECAC and what a tool they believe Pecknold to be. That does get old and I admit to ignoring those posts.
That said, I really have enjoyed the BC fans visiting this thread and hope it continues through the next week. I am personally ecstatic that we are facing BC in the Frozen four. Knowing that we have games scheduled the next few seasons, I think that starting things off with such a HUGE game will make future games so much more fun. I am more excited for the BC games next year than any other on the schedule (including Yale).
Even though I hope QU stays in the ECAC it is kinda refreshing to see the respect and welcoming attitude that the Hockey East fans have toward us.

#BEATBC :)

I don't know about that... but thanks anyway! ;)

It looks like I will not be going to Tampa. :( Been trying all week to make it work but there's a few things going on in my "real" world that aren't working in my favor. If it weren't for the additional expense of airfare it might have been possible but for the short-term future I just can't spend the extra coin. I'm sure this is a decision I will regret, much like staying home for the ECAC finals. Those that know me know that this is a painful decision for me.

Sorry to hear. I have a similar issue though I still booked with insurance in case something happens. I also didn't get the blessing of my wife who I will be leaving with 3 young kids for possibly 3 and half days.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Rand is one of 8 finalist for the Spencer Penrose aware for the top coach in the country. I really think he should win it this year. 31 wins, ECAC regular season and tournament titles along with a second frozen four berth in 4 years. Dominated the ECAC with only 1 loss which has not happened since RPI in 1985. Enters the Frozen Four with less than 4 losses and the 1st team since Michigan in 1997 to have that happen.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

I hope you're not referring to all of us? I'm loving the banter from the visitors and take exception to a few of the comments from the regulars. At the end of the day, it's all harmless drivel... the game will be decided on the ice regardless of what we say.

i'm glad and you're right, harmless............. but fun! I'm stoked to play you guys next week and to have you on our schedule next year . Next, get ur arses into HE!

It would be well deserved!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Every one of the nominees is very deserving. Not only that , but a number of coaches that are not on the list are deserving as well.

This is true... I was just looking at the finalists list and a lot of them have a great argument to take home the trophy. Like a lot of awards, in the end someone deserving will win but it will usually be based on some real backward thinking (Team X was picked to finish 8th in a preseason poll by some nitwits and finished 2nd so their coach must have done a better job than the guy that made the Frozen Four with his team that was the preseason number 1 in a poll by those same nitwits"). That is one major metric people use and to be honest it's quite terrible.

It's truly insane that Jerry York has only won one Penrose. But someone deserving will win it this year for sure.

Sorry to hear that, Mark. They are doing game watches all over the place for the game. I'm actually hoping they do a game watch in the arena -- I'd go in a heartbeat.

Yeah... I'm thinking I may have to turn in my "World's Biggest Bobcat Fan" card. :(

My heart will be there but my soul, and the flag, will be here.

Right now the plan is to hang out at Luke's with a few others and have our own private viewing party. ;)

I was wondering if QU might do something with those gorgeous video boards... the post from DotF seems to indicate that they will.

Its definitely a tough location for all teams to get to as it requires a flight to get there. I wonder if the school is offering a bus for students?

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

I was told buses would not even be considered due to the distance. I doubt there will be many students (from any of the schools) in Tampa for that reason, which is a shame because the kids make the atmosphere. I had a blast in Pittsburgh just watching the kids enjoying the fact that their school was at the Frozen Four.

The sad thing about Tampa is that a month or so ago airfare was less than half what it is today. The catch being that to get that low price the tickets were non-cancelable and non-refundable. I don't travel by air much at all so maybe that's the norm.

Not sure if it helps Mark, but flying into other Florida cities like Orlando, Jacksonville. Ft Lauderdale can often be less expensive than Tampa. If you have to rent a car anyway, it's really just the drivetime inconvenience to the airport for sometimes substantial savings. The same can be said for rental cars in Tampa. I was looking for a compact weekly at TPA and the cheapest car on Expedia was $400, I rented from the same agency but from a local office around the corner from my Dad in St.Pete for 1/3rd the cost. Flights to FL are much cheaper out of Philly as well.

Love it. Hopefully it's a rowdy atmosphere. I think I'll plan on being up at the arena on Thursday. Should be a really fun thing.
