Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Hope someone posts a pump up video or something to get me through the next 10 days

Scouting Video:

Thatcher Demko is a great goalie but you have already faced Lyons, the best goalie in College Hockey along with a lot of other great ECAC goalies. Defeating BC is a Championship all unto itself. You don't get any hardware but you will get recognition as the best in the east and a lot of respect.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

LOL at using a scouting video for BC based on those previous teams. And I'm not sure how you concluded Lyon is better than Demko, perhaps you meant significantly older than Demko? They do have the same save percentage but at least on paper, Demko did it in a tougher league. Your posts in general...you are a strange one.

Demko is a great talent but its easy to pad your stats when you have half of Hockey East as bottom feeders. 8 of the teams in ECAC finished with winning records and a 9th was 1 game under .500 in Union.

I talked to his mom at Lake Placid; Corey met with Rand whilst up there and it sounds like it will be a good fit.

Heard Providence also has shown interest. I guess the kid is very good. The Cliftons are quite a family, a staple at the Bank! Great people! To get another one for four more years would be incredible. Do the right thing, kid!

Yale had the 20th SOS and BC SOS was 15th. So that argument doesnt hold up. Demko faced a tougher SOS

Small sample, but Demko did face and beat Harvard twice. .946 SP in those two games. Haven't seen Lyon at all this year, just don't know how you can say he's definitively the best in the country.

Demko has performed against plenty of good teams.

I saw lyon this past weekend against UML. Solid goalie. Plays the puck very well.

Uh, OK. See you on the 7th.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

My impression is that Demko will be the best goalie we will face all year. That said, the depth of our team this year has allowed us to score on pretty much everyone, including 9 goals in two games against a Lindgren-led SCSU and 7 in the two games against Yale (6 on Lyon, 1 ENG).

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Heh, I'm not expecting Demko to shut you guys out. I'm thinking a 3-2 game in either direction. Something like that.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

How about this, instead of getting people's panties in a bunch:

Demko is one of the best goalies in the country.

There. Is that OK? Can everyone chill the hell out, now?

Now, onto the basis of what I think QU fans are trying to say: We've already played against -- and beaten -- many of the other top goalies in college hockey. Also, Quinnipiac's goalie is pretty good, too. Just sayin'. There are no bad goalies when you're in the Frozen Four.

That is exactly my sentiment. As a fan, I like to talk a lot shizzz. It doesn't mean we don't understand how good some player is, we just like our team better in the match-up. Honestly, why would any fan or player go into a match up saying, "Oh it's Demko on the other side of the ice, we CAN'T WIN, he is just too good." He is good, he might even have a decent pro career, but how does any goalie do when they face 35+ SOG? How does any goalie do when there are 2-3 guys in front of the goal? These are things that Q does very consistently, this is why, us as fans, are very confident and excited about our chances.

I didn't realize we were all riled up about it, thought it was just a discussion

You guys are good at these straw man arguments I guess. Who exactly are you responding to? Nobody said you had no chance. Not even close to that.

Well if you took it personally then I guess it was to you. It was actually in reference to the amount of non-Quinnipaic fan traffic this thread has been receiving since the Field of 16 was announced. Most other fan bases seem to think Quinnipiac is still some bottom feeder school out of the ECAC so we take a lot of pride in our boys and we do get rilled up a lot easier because of that.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Great quote from Rand on the NCAA conference call today.

On Quinnipiac's success and its effect on recruiting:
A big part of our program is development. We have some really good players on our team who we were the only school to talk to them. You want to get the most talented kids you can get, and we'll never take a kid without high character. We have a lot of really good players, but we also have a lot of players who literally nobody else wanted. Can we keep doing that? I think we can, but it's difficult.

On the program's growth and recent success:
Without question, within the last five years we've moved up the chart on the recruiting trail, but it's still hard. There are still the few big programs that get all the first-round draft picks. We're trying. But we get the right kinds of kids here who want to play a team game and make sacrifices for us to win. We've been able to move up the ladder and close more deals than we would have 7 or 8 years ago, but we've still got a ways to go.
