Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Hell of a game by the boys after a slow start. Get some rest and heal up(somebody's shoulder might be in a little pain) and enjoy the moment. Guess we don't have to wait till next season for that first game vs BC.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

I LOVE THIS TEAM

That was an absolutely phenomenal performance. They never got scared, never got nervous, just kept chipping away at it. This team is incredibly skilled -- we know that. But the reason they're the No. 1 team in the country is how strong they are mentally. Just an incredible mental team. They scratch, they claw, they compete for every single puck. But the most important thing, this team has an incredible amount of heart. It's not good enough to be skilled, you have to want it, and this team wants it.

I thought that defensive performance in the second and third periods was some of the best hockey I've ever seen the Quinnipiac program play since I started watching them in 2004-05. I mean, it was perfect. UML had nothing for the final 45 minutes of that game. You knew the second goal was going to be huge, and when we got it -- and got two more right afterwards, it was game over. Just an incredible, incredible performance. Perhaps one of the top 3 performances in school history tonight. Seriously, it was that good.

Finally, so happy for all the people who work for the Quinnipiac program. One of the reasons I'm such a huge fan of QU hockey is all the great people who work for the school, the athletic department, and the hockey program. I'm proud to be an alum of this school -- and a fan of this program -- because they do things the right way. Good guys sometimes do get to go to the Frozen Four.

Two down, two to go. Let's go win the darn thing.

Oh, and one more thing.

FROZEN FOUR!!!!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

What a performance. A little bit of everything in this game. Maybe the most complete game of the year...and they said we had peaked in December!

Requested work off over a month ago.....see you in TAMPA

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Too bad Quinnipiac and BC are on the same side of the bracket, because that would have made for the best championship game matchup. I see this semifinal game as being the equivalent of the NFC Championship back in the mid '90s when the 49ers and Cowboys were so vastly superior to the best teams the AFC had to offer.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Look, I'll be perfectly honest. Boston College is the worst matchup for us in the country. Size is our kryptonite. And there's quite a talent gap between the size Clarkson and Cornell throw at us and the size BC will throw at us. Tuch will be the person we have to key on if we want to win. He can leave immense damage lying in his wake.

FROZEN FOUR!!!

Amazing weekend for the Bobcats!!

One of the best games they played all year.

We're still celebrating here, but I'd be remiss not to post this -- some very interesting thoughts from Chip Malafronte on Hockey East, including a great and interesting quote from former AD Jack McDonald. I'm starting to go in the column of hoping we stay in ECAC. Also includes a little note about the Quinnipiac-Yale rivalry, which apparently is a factor:

“Nothing beats winning,” said McDonald, now athletic director at the University of New England. “Joining the ECAC is the greatest thing to ever happen to the athletic department, and is probably in the top five things to happen in the history of Quinnipiac. I’d hope they would want to stay.”

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

What. A. Game!

What. A. Weekend!

In a one-and-done format, heart is as important as skill. Tonight they showed heart like I haven't seen all season. They stifled UML all game long. They wanted it, and then went out and took it.

To the victor goes the spoils... and those spoils are located in Tampa!

Congratulations boys!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

We are all Bobcats now .....
UML is much better than their record shows. They are .500 or better this year against the top of HE including BC, Providence, BU, NotreDame, and NE. In league play their defense numbers (GA) would be tops in the country. They like to come from behind. No lead is safe with them. You have got to keep scoring. If they get by you I believe they win the Tournament. Forget BC and N. Dakota. This is the NCAA Championship tonight. Cheer your guts out.

were you drinking when you wrote this? Do you know anything about UML's MO? and they were 25-9 going in, pretty good record if you ask me and have you seen North Dakota play? You can "forget" BC if you want but forget North Dakota? and Denver too while you're at it huh? Go have another one ...............anyway, congrats to Q for a great performance last night and all year. I hope we will be seeing a lot of you in the coming years in HE, you would be a fantastic addition to the league.

Congratulations on the Frozen Four, even though I really dislike QU. Your guys earned it.

As far as size being your kryptonite, I really don't see it. You may not have the biggest team but you are aggressive on the forecheck and win battles along the boards. It's not your size that is important; it's your strength. I think you guys have a more complete team than BC, although BC has the better top line. BC has size but they don't play the "Schafer" system that Cornell and Clarkson play; the type that frustrates not only you guys at QU but just about anyone who plays them.

BC won't be able to bottle you guys up and they won't win the battles along the boards. Keep the game out of space and defend against their top line and you should give them a good game. I think the game will come down to goaltending. Garteig will keep you guys in the game and BC's goaltending will give you the chance to get enough goals to win.

Congrats! You guys were def the better team last night and I don't see anyone stopping you in Tampa.

Like I said, we should stay in the ECAC Hockey League and the QU/Yale rivalry is a big factor.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

BC went on a 13 game non-losing streak followed by a 15 game non-losing streak. In their last 7, they are 4-3 losses from UML, VT and NE. While they are 5th in penalty minutes, this is negated by the fact that they are second in short-handed goals at 11. Very dangerous !!!!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - The post-season journey...

Well said Z

Go Bobcats!

You have no idea who to root for in this game, do you Fred?

Work says I can take Thurs/Fri off. Who is heading down to Tampa? #RollCall

Wish I could have been out there this past weekend - Hope everyone had a great time (how could you not)

Just hoping One Eyed Jerry is out of tricks in his career and that Bill Riga is ready to lounge on the bench come next Thursday. Go Bobcats!
