Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Let's hope it was one of those Teslas with auto-pilot.

Hahaha I wish it was. Let me know if anyone has a spare $120k lying around I could definitely use a Model X. But, in worse news, I can't watch or listen to the game tonight so let's hope Q comes out skating hard from the drop of the puck.

If the boys can come out with the same intensity they showed last night they should be ok. It's going to take another complete effort with limited mistakes and everyone on their game. The lines are starting to gel and everyone is playing hard... just need to keep it up.

It will be interesting to see if/where Alex Barron plays since he is eligible as of today. With the way they've been playing he made need to "earn" his way back into the lineup, but I think he'll see a start at forward.

Go Q!

The nice thing about him is his versatility. C. Clifton left early so I could see Barron there if Connor can't go

Hello fellas!

Thought I'd chime in.

Man, is this a fun team to watch. Their fast, they hit and as we saw last night, they don't seem to cower when down. You look at a St. Cloud team and goalie that were allowing .5 GA coming in, including three shutouts and it would be hard for any team to muster up the fortitude to come back from a multi-goal deficit. These boys did it and then some.

They play a little different than Bobcat teams of years past. While puck possession is still a mainstay, this team just seems insanely athletic and poised to hit anything that moves. Scott Davidson is a monster. While not overly huge, just 6'1, 205, he's balanced, fast and never passes up a hit. Connor Clifton has also picked better times to lay a big hit this year. At times, undisciplined in the past, he's been a leader on the blue line to this point. Let's hope his noggin his okay after blocking a shot with it last night. Not sure the extent of Timmy Clifton's injury either. His offensive game had picked up big time and his return will be huge, as will the return of Alex Barron tonight.

With my limited research, I believe this is the Bobcats' first EVER 5-0 start to a season since becoming a Division I program. They had their huge run of 13 unbeaten in 2013-14 but remember that season started with a loss to Alaska-Anchorage.

The numbers are fun to look at it through a small sample size-- 20 of 23 Bobcats have recorded a point with the exceptions being Hilbrich (1 game played), Canon Pieper (2 games) and Joe Fiala (1 game). That's including our goalie, Mr. Michael Garteig. We've outshot our opponents by 103 shots through five games, we've scored a PPG in each game, dominated the oh-so pivotal second period scoring 14 of our 23 goals in that frame and have locked down a stout 19/19 penalty kills to this point.

Here's to continued success. See ya atop 113!

Did a quick a tally since the Bank has opened to see how Quinnipiac has done against non-conference teams at the Bank. I took Atlantic Hockey teams out of the equation to get a more true indication of success against the perennial power conferences. The Bobcats have gone 18-5-3 since the Bank has opened against non-cons (excluding AHA teams). Pretty impressive.

Overall (including AHA) they're something like 40-11-4 vs. OOC opponents at the Bank. AND remember that god awful loss to AIC a few years back? QU is 16-2-2 against non-con teams at the Bank since that with the only losses coming to Umass and Merrimack since then. They've lost 6 games to Atlantic Hockey teams at home since the Bank opened with four of those coming against Niagara. They haven't scheduled Niagara since 2009.

Had a chance to watch the game back this morning. Was at work last night. Thought the boys played well but even knowing the final score, I didnt feel like there was much of a gap between SCSU and us. It came down to possession though and that's where we dominated. Looking forward to watching tonight live. This game is huge. A split is a tough way for the weekend to shake out. A win would be absolutely huge for the team's confidence and their pairwise.

The last time I saw the Bobcats be able to roll four lines seamlessly was in Pittsburgh. I also remember that team having a veteran D core and senior goaltender (go figure...).

Go Bobcats!

Thought St Cloud had some good fight in them that period. It all came down to converting chances. This year's QU team is the best I can remember at converting chances. Past couple years, the team can outshoot an opponent 50-20 and only win 2-1. This team isn't like those.
.
Also it's great to see Martin out there eating pucks like that as a freshman. Usually takes those guys a little longer to buy in

The school has to do something about the stream. Its guaranteed to cut out at least twice every game

Brutal second period by the Bobcats. Outplayed throughout the period and they are lucky to still have a lead right now. They need to wake up in the 3rd.

What a weekend. A sweep of St. Cloud State will be huge come pairwise time. At times I was stunned the Bobcats won this game. They were outplayed for most of the game but capitalized on their chances. This was one of the best games that Garteig has played. 41 saves and he saved this teams *** tonight. Just amazing to start this season 6-0.

Really impressed. TSD and Garteig were dynamite this weekend. Got a week and a half to fine tune some things. St Cloud definitely exploited a couple things. Coaching staff has a chance to clean some things up before Colgate and Cornell.

Go BOBCATS!

Also to go out on the recruiting trail as well as Riga said on the post game show. Wouldn't be shocked to see them get a a commitment or 2 in the next week.

Clearly Garts BEST game. Came up huge several times. Nice to see him carry the team. Nice to see the team not lose their composure. As outplayed as they were in the second they found a little extra in the 3rd.

Just a great weekend shared with a bunch of great friends!

Great weekend!!
The second period seemed like a 20 minute penalty kill. Garteig was awesome this weekend.
6-0 to start the season. Amazing start.

Sounds like a missed a doozy! I'm starting to think my Jersey found a permanent home on the back of my recliner. It has been there since the start of the season and we have not lost yet.

Do I sense a juggernaut, looking awfully good in Hamden. Mark, will I see you in Hamilton in two weeks ?
