Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-15 - Another journey begins...
Hello fellas!
Thought I'd chime in.
Man, is this a fun team to watch. Their fast, they hit and as we saw last night, they don't seem to cower when down. You look at a St. Cloud team and goalie that were allowing .5 GA coming in, including three shutouts and it would be hard for any team to muster up the fortitude to come back from a multi-goal deficit. These boys did it and then some.
They play a little different than Bobcat teams of years past. While puck possession is still a mainstay, this team just seems insanely athletic and poised to hit anything that moves. Scott Davidson is a monster. While not overly huge, just 6'1, 205, he's balanced, fast and never passes up a hit. Connor Clifton has also picked better times to lay a big hit this year. At times, undisciplined in the past, he's been a leader on the blue line to this point. Let's hope his noggin his okay after blocking a shot with it last night. Not sure the extent of Timmy Clifton's injury either. His offensive game had picked up big time and his return will be huge, as will the return of Alex Barron tonight.
With my limited research, I believe this is the Bobcats' first EVER 5-0 start to a season since becoming a Division I program. They had their huge run of 13 unbeaten in 2013-14 but remember that season started with a loss to Alaska-Anchorage.
The numbers are fun to look at it through a small sample size-- 20 of 23 Bobcats have recorded a point with the exceptions being Hilbrich (1 game played), Canon Pieper (2 games) and Joe Fiala (1 game). That's including our goalie, Mr. Michael Garteig. We've outshot our opponents by 103 shots through five games, we've scored a PPG in each game, dominated the oh-so pivotal second period scoring 14 of our 23 goals in that frame and have locked down a stout 19/19 penalty kills to this point.
Here's to continued success. See ya atop 113!
