Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

Hello all, I am compiling a Quinnipiac Hockey top ten player poll of the last decade (2000-2010) for the blog. I am asking Bobcat fans to submit their top ten picks as soon as possible to lucas.devoe@gmail.com. If you are not a Bobcat fan and you feel you've followed the team long enough feel free to take part as well! Time is a factor tho so get them in quickly.

Check out this article...
We're gonna have to start calling you allnightscoop!

It was a nice little article. One line jumped right off the page at me:
In the last five years, Quinnipiac is the only member of its league to win at least one playoff series each year.
That's a very telling stat. Now all we need to do is capitalize on that on take it to the next level.

I'm starting to get excited (and impatient) for the upcoming season. We lost almost nothing and have some firepower coming in, plus I feel that Cashman is going to bring a level of enthusiasm we haven't seen in a few years. There's no reason not to expect this to be one of the Q's best seasons.

Is it October 2nd yet?

Thanks Ralph!

A nice read... can't find anything in that write-up to complain about! I'm just hoping we can be that good when we hit the ice.

Sure... some of us only have ECAC history to go by.

I don't mind them being selected. Plus who knows what they wouldve done playing in lower level NCAA conferences. They were able to produce in the ECAC which should give em some cred. Mind you they are only ranked 19 and 20 so it doesn't really affect much anyway. I'd take issue if they cracked the top ten.

Matt was one of the first Bobcats I ever met personally. He was not only a great player but also a great person. I was immediately impressed by his demeanor as well as his abilites on the ice.

#17 is posted! Let the banter begin. http://allnightwong.blogspot.com

Without question, the most genuinely nice kid I met from the team during my time there. You rooted for the kid not because you were a fan of the team, but because you were a fan of the person. Probably the reason I vouched for him so loudly when he tailed off his last two years -- I really wanted him to get back to where he was his first two years.

On the ice, the kid carried the team on his back during the playoffs his sophomore year. They absolutely don't make it to Albany without Budsey between the pipes.

So hard, though, to rank a goalie against a position player. The goalie is on the ice 3x as much, and makes so many plays. He's so much more visible than all but the very best players, but that doesn't always mean he's better than those guys. I have no clue how to rank a goaltender around the guys around him on this list. A guy like Jamie Holden is a lot easier to rank than a guy like Bud Fisher, due to Jamie's insane stats.

Cosigned on everything ZYanks said. Joy to watch, huge reason there was so much enthusiasm during the initial ECAC years. Bu-ud Fish-er...

Wong- Love the idea, maybe next time name 12 fwds, 6d and 2goalies from a certain period of time. Be it ECAC years, last 10 years, last 4... You have your standard Top 6 forwards, Bottom 6, Puck Movers with Stay at Home guys.

I've spent the better part of a night doing this with a group of QU buddies. We still talk about it.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2011 Offseason

Didn't Bud play most of his junior year with a groin injury that wasn't disclosed until after the season? IIRC he also started that year with a thumb injury he got when a weight dropped on it in the training room. Still played respectably all things considered.

I guess you could say I was a big fan of Fisher's. While he lost some of his abilities (for whatever reasons) he still showed tons of desire whenever he was on the ice. One of his best performances had to be coming in to relieve Clarke in a Yale game at the Bank when we were down 3-0. He single-handedly kept us in that game and allowed us to come back tie it late in the 3rd. Another was game 2 of the playoffs at Harvard. After getting embarrassed (the entire team, not just Bud) in that 12-1 debacle on Friday night, Bud came back and stood tall in net allowing us to win game 2. Game 3 was a very tight, defensive contest and was taken by Harvard on Bud's only mistake of the night.
