Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Ken Schott is po'd also. http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs...e-hockey-slap-schotts-week-16-quinnipiac-sho/. There are a few things I don't care for about Qpac including the coach, but IMO they should be ranked number 1, I don't see any all around better teams though my sample size is admittedly limited.

Just wait until Monday and you may have may have your wish. MN takes on a very good St. Cloud team in St. Cloud, so odds are probably against a sweep. If MN sweeps SCSU, they probably deserve to keep #1. If they don't, I would expect to see a new #1, assuming Q wins both.

I hope Minnesota sweeps (because I want the last Cup), but they give the #1 ranking to Quinnipiac (so we can stop hearing the complaining). Then I really, really, really hope we get to play Quinnipiac in the Tourney :)

Great Chatter!

Still a dream to think that as a 14 year old D-I institution the Bobcats are in this awesome conversation.

Good Luck at Cornell/Colgate.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Post on the RPI blog Without a Peer about Quinnipiac http://www.withoutapeer.com/2013/02/for-q.html.

The usual disclaimer that I have no connection to WaP except as a reader.

The only thing I can see is that as much as our league can talk the talk, it's been a while since we've walked the walk. Obviously RPI was able to pull off the streak in 1985, but what is the most important is that Quinnipiac continues to stay hot. Yale basically ran into a brick wall when they hit the Capital District in 2010-11 and never recovered, losing to Colgate in the ECAC playoffs and needing overtime to best Air Force in the first round of the big dance before being shut out by UMD. Even Q-Pac has had a couple of blips in the radar with their ties to RPI and Brown. Obviously, come playoff time I'd like to see a different outcome if the schools' paths meet, but if Q continues to play their game one day at a time, I think they could very well make a run.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

What is the preferred abbreviation for Quinnipiac? I'd love to say that I could spell it during tournament time but that is unlikely. QU? Q? Q-Pac? I need something short and easily typed, especially if I start drinking.

And just in case we face each other what is the least acceptable? ;)

Its QU.

Actually, Yale won the Whitelaw Cup that year. Union won the Cleary Cup and lost to Colgate in the ECAC Quarterfinals.

Good luck Friday (but not Saturday).

D'oh! Got it confused with 09-10 when they lost to Brown. :o

QU is the best one to use, while Q is acceptable. I'm not crazy about Q-Pac mainly because there is no part of the school name that has the letters Q-P-A-C or even just P-A-C sequentially. It would make more sense to say Q-piac, though that does not role off the tongue as smoothly.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

I have heard Quinny used around town more than once. I call you folks QU, but I actually like the Qpac, would look good on a Euro sticker. Too bad you are not still "The Quinnipiac Braves" then this conversation would be moot. It is surprising that they did not change the entire name of the University when they went politically correct with the mascot, fortunately Bobcats(the animal) are making a reappearance in CT, I do not believe there are any Quinnipiac tribe members left.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

So, assuming QU faces Minnesota in the postseason what is the most hurtful thing we can call you? Big Red? :D

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 - Go fourth and conquer!

Just bought a ticket for next Saturday's games -- it appears hockey has only SRO remaining for every game the rest of the way. Very impressive.

That being said, save a spot for me on the rail, Mark and Luke.
