Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

We have everything we need to skate with a team like Nebraska; the question is will we?
Answer: we did! A superb effort tonight. Skated well, won a lot of the little battles, had a huge night from Hartzell, and beat the #8 team in the country.

Keep it up and go after 'em again tomorrow aftenoon.

Hey Eagle, QU-4 Neb-O-3? Gotta be a misprint.;)

Happy New Year to you. Hope you're doing well.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Fantastic finish to 2010 and hopefully a sign of what 2011 and the 2nd half will bring!

Another great game anchored by Hartzell in net. More battles won while skating hard for just about the whole game. There was a 4 or 5 minute stretch in the 2nd where it looked like they might derail but the found a way to get it done. Lots of guys stepped up and made contributions to the overall effort.

After seeing how much size advantage UNO had on us last night, I thought for sure we'd run out of gas but never did. In reality, it looked like UNO who was gassed at the end and we found a little more in our tank. If this team could show up for every game they'll be able to skate with anyone the rest of the way.

Congats to the guys for a very impressive sweep of a top-ranked team!

Happy New Year to all!

Way to be, Bobcats! I was hoping to catch one of these matchups, but the week just flew by. Sounds like Hartzell is a shoe-in for GOTW, or perhaps POTW.

Good luck the rest of the way!

Wow........I have to say I'm impressed. Don't take this the wrong way but watching last night I thought there was a huge talent difference with UNO being the far superior team and much more skilled. I didn't think there was any way you would sweep them after watching last night's game. Hartzell must have really played well again as looking at the stats UNO put a bunch more shots on him.

Were UNO's shots today any more challenging or were they like Thursday night where a lot of them were right into Hartzell's bread basket??

Talent and skill aside........that's why they play the games. Your Bobcats did the ECAC proud with that sweep.

Happy New Year to you too......best of luck in the second half of the season except for Jan. 29th.

I didn't either Mike. However, I think UNO was much better last night than they were today. We seemed to control the play for longer stretches ths afternoon and the Maverick's seemed back on their heels quite often. About the only thing they did do today that I expected was to play more chippy than last night.

He was solid but I didn't think he was a calm today and even had a stretch late in the 2nd where he seemed to have no clue where the puck was. There weren't nearly as many bread-basket saves today and he had to work a little harder than last night. At the same time, I don't feel that UNO put as many hard, quality shots on him like they did last night. To be honest, I thought UNO was rather flat today compared to yesterday.

Your Bobcats did the ECAC proud with that sweep.
Not to mention making their fans pretty happy too!

Same to you and the Saint's. Of course, we'll be looking for a little revenge on the 29th! ;)

Great effort against a ranked opponent again today. The play of Hartzell and the encouraging offensive development are certainly positive signs as the team heads into 2011. The defensive efforts need some work; can’t expect the goalie to make 96 saves every weekend.

I also thought the crowd was terrific considering the noon start and absence of students.

Awesome end to 2010. The team played hard and like Mark and Crits said I kept waiting for them to falter and let UNO run away with it. I thought that during both games when they got tied but Q kept grinding it out. It wasn't pretty, they took plenty of hits from the mammoth Mavs but they held on. Morale has to be at an all time high for this season right now and they need to ride that into three winnable league games @Princeton and home to Colgate and Cornell.

Zurvy had a solid showing for consistent games which is nice to see, maybe getting the message that he needs to produce like last year in order for the pros to keep their interest in him. Goodman had two monstrous goals yesterday, the first to give us a lead going into the break and the second to allow the team the confidence to keep playing their game and skating hard rather than protecting a one goal lead. I could go on and on about the positive play of individuals over the weekend. The point is everyone went about their jobs and the results show that when they do that we can top some of the best teams in the country.

Eric Hartzell was brilliant. That will be well documented over the next week where we should get GOTW honors in league play and possible nationally. He needs to continue this however, because in the past he has shone and then had abysmal games after that. I'm interested to see how he does Monday.

Quiet weekend from the Jones' stats-wise but they played their gritty style and took on some of the towering forces that the Mavs had. I don't think UNO expected some of our littler guys to hit the way they did which was fun to watch.

The Bank was fairly impressive given the holiday circumstances and everything that goes with that. They need to KEEP coming to the games and hopefully the students will too. Sweeping a ranked team can help at achieving that.

Plus, we're on the front page of USCHO, now that's how you know you've made it!

Hartzell certainly stood on his head two days in a row. He looked solid, blocked the posts well and came up with the big save when needed.

The team just looked a lot better. Not sure if all the time off brought us back well rested, or if it just gave us that much time to watch film to prepare. BUt we looked solid.

Defense is still a problem in the long run. THere were times were it looked like we didn't know who we were suppossed to be covering. Luckily, it didn't cost us any in terms of points.

Great two games!!!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Resolution for 2011: pay more attention to the forum

HUGE wins for the Q! I think those two games will be huge motivators and push the team in the right direction mentally. Their level of play was much better than nearly any other games this year.
Monday's game will be a huge test of showing how far this team has actually come. I don't think we even need to win Monday for that, but to at least play hard and play smart and get some goals in net will be a huge difference than yet another dissapointing, half hearted loss (though the W is always nice!)
I'm very excited to see where this team can go :)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Lamps gettin called up to the AHL and the Syracuse Crunch.
Congrats Eric!

The Bobcats visit the Tigers tonight. I thought we should have beat them back in November at the Bank. Unfortunately we didn't show up for that game. Hopefully they will be riding a wave of confidence after sweeping UNO last week. They proved they can skate and be physical so there's no excuse to not give it their all. I'll take QU 4-3.

Go Q!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Not nearly as much offense as I thought from either side. A 1-1 tie is still better than a loss. Hartzell looked strong again and made a couple of nice stops on breakaways as well as several other key saves.

A few days to rest before 'Gate and the Big Red!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '10-'11

Another 35+ save game for Hartzie. A tie against a good Princeton team isn't the worst thing that could've happened and I like to see the continued emergence of Jeremy Langlois. Let's go get the underachieving Raiders and Red!
