Providence Friars - 2019-2020 Rebuilding The Friars for Another NCAA

Re: Providence Friars - 2019-2020 Rebuilding The Friars for Another NCAA

Yeah, that extra 15 minutes driving from Hingham to Providence instead of to Boston is killer. You might even pass out behind the wheel trying to make it there.

Is there nothing going on in Providence ????

BOOM!
Per Jeff Cox

"Providence associate head coach Kris Mayotte is leaving the Friars to join Mel Pearson’s coaching staff at Michigan. Former Union goaltender previously was at St. Lawrence. Great addition for the Wolverines for both recruiting and coaching."

Wonder who they would promote in place of him

Joel Beal? Big step down from Mayotte but Leaman may have been scrambling this late in the game.

Mayotte was a step down when Barr left. Time and experience changed that. He has one thing Barr (was a Leaman assistant at Union prior to PC) and Mayotte (played for Leaman) have. Leaman knows him well from his college days. Beal was an alternate captain on first 2 Union teams (teammate of Mayotte). Also was hired byBennett and Blasi 2 people Leaman respects.

Beal was an assistant under Leaman in 2011-2012 and then Bennett kept him on staff for only one more year before he went to Sacred Heart for five years.

He ended up at Miami for only a season before Rico got canned and then moved to Bentley this offseason.

It seems as though there is a lack of buzz about the hockey Friars of late. It's kind of troubling.

There is not much to talk about Thompson and Dugan are going to have to carry the team while Lackey will have to be a rock in the net!

In the last 2 weeks - 2 new assistant coaches, a new recruit commitment last week, another one this week. Not sure what you want in the off-season....
