Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.
Did anyone see this letter in the Projo today? It's in the Projo Nation section.
Here it is:

Worst loss of season for P.C. hockey
Providence College men’s hockey program lost much more than its head coach recently. The resignation of Coach Tim Army marked a sad day for the college, community, and the student athletes associated with the men’s hockey program.
The apparent dismissal of Coach Army, a Providence College alumnus and former All-American hockey player, is another example of an athletic director’s losing sight of a coach’s contribution to his school, student athletes, and community. Obviously Athletic Director Bob Driscoll’s evaluation of a program is based solely on wins and losses, ahead of academic success, community service and the growth of young student athletes entrusted to Coach Army by parents throughout the country. I do realize that winning is important, but ultimately shouldn’t the college be just as proud of the student athletes that it graduates?
Providence College has suffered its biggest loss of the season in losing Coach Army. It takes time to recruit and build a winning program in any Division I sport, never mind in the Hockey East, arguably the number-one conference in the country.
Mr. Driscoll will find another coach, but he will never find one with the passion and true love that Coach Army has for Providence College. Perhaps it is time for the college to look at replacing an athletic director whose shortsightedness has caused a loss that can never be measured in only wins and losses.
