Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Maybe Driscoll just can't multi task very well. 3 things on his to do list...hire a bball coach, run the Frozen Four, then hire a new coach. One thing at a time. Are you mistaking the guy for Lou Lamoriello?

LOL that's what I was thinking. He got Cooley right away, no complaints from most fans there. The Frozen Four is a week away...is there some rush when the current hockey season still isn't entirely over?

I also think it will be how the fans measure how well Driscoll does with the hire. If he gets someone better no one would complain...for example land Bennett's present boss and we will say Driscoll meant when he said he was going to work to revitalize the program.

Completely agree. I guess I'd ask fans if they'd still want Driscoll's head on a platter if he was able to hire a coach with head coaching experience instead of a guy who doesn't. Who that guy is -- who knows. But IMO they've got to aim higher in principle -- whether or not they get someone like that is, as we've discussed, a whole other issue.

I think jump the gun is the answer. I believe as a state job Lowell has to post their opening for like 30 days so clearly if so they are not in interview mode yet never mind finalist picking. PC has no such restrictions.

That makes a whole lot of sense. He could still be Lowell's top choice (and IMO there sounds like an awful lot of mutual interest from those quotes).

Providence College will have a head coach in a few weeks and there will be much rejoicing. Hockeyguy's butt is on the line because we all know that hockey is the money making sport ar Providence College and he can't afford to let this one slip.

You losers worry too much. Enjoy your sewing circle while the rest of us hockey people talk about hockey stuff. Stuff like Pooley's bio including the names and ages of his kids. No! Not creepy at all. Spend your day skulking around in your candyvan and you'll understand that including that in a reposted bio has EVERYTHING to do with hockey and in NO WAY solidifies anyone's reputation as a freak.

If I recall, didn't Driscoll come from the Union College athletic department? Not that it necessarily means anything but kind of interesting, if he did.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

He was AD at Union and I do not know if he hired the staff there or not......interesting though.......I do know he has alot to do with the Frozen 4 so his time is very limited so as 91 said wait until the season is really over.......and above all GO Souix

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I know that the Hockeyguy is busy making the final preparations in order to see that the Frozen Four is a huge success but I hope he remembers to pack a Friars jersey to take with him this year.

It was VERY embarrassing to be the only D-1 school not represented in the display, especially when our illustrious AD is on the committee. ;)

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Is it time to step away from the PC coaching tree? I'd be more comfortable moving toward the BU/ BC model and plan. Time for a change!

If Rick Bennett was the choice it would be announced by now, I think...

and PC91 is my hero

Well Hoky(sic), the fact that they can recruit high end Massachusetts players, their connections in the local ie Northeast hockey (not hoky) community allows them to recruit more talented players...the Coyles, Krieders, Hayeses...do I need to list more?

As a frequent viewer and new poster, I have noticed Hoky besides your poor spelling, you seem belligerent and not too hockey savvy

You have hit the nail on the head! That took no time at all!
Next you'll receive some negative rep, complete with homophobic slurs, courtesy of you know who. Don't engage this clown because it's all fun and games until you keep getting the better of him (NOT hard to do, he's very dim) and he gets his underoos in a bunch and runs crying to the moderators. Leave him be and you won't get the mods cross with you. Don't say that you weren't warned!!!!

Incidently, thank you for the compliment. I'm often quite a fan of myself too but I do have room to admire others. You're on my radar screen and I'll watch your meteoric rise with interest. Enjoy the positive rep and welcome to USCHO!

Who is everyone's ideal person for the job? REALISTIC chance at getting them...maybe it will help the AD get some ideas on who to interview!

Amen. I want a fresh face in here myself. It's time for some new energy, not someone associated with the past.

Welcome aboard!

I'd like to see either associate head coach Mike Bavis (BU), associate head coach Mike Cavanuagh (BC) or Sean Tremblay head coach (Jr. Monarchs)

I don't know if they'd leave their current jobs to take over this floundering program but I'd love to see any one of these coaches take the helm.
