Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

BC will kill Providence tonight. Too much depth for the Fri-uhs to deal with.

Milner is in goal, so anything goes.

You're both wrong. Except about the part where PC loses. We all knew that was coming.

I know some people here watch the occassional practice. Does anyone notice anything that might somehow lead to PC's complete inability to score goals, especially on a power play? the idiot refs do PC no good by calling tons of penalties. Even if they "help" PC, we have no power play to speak of. Sigh.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Can we please change the title of the thread as things are NOT looking up.

The only clown who is foolish enough to state in public that he is happy with this team is Timmy. I'd have SO much more to say about this year's team but they are kids so I'll refrain.
They were embarrassing to watch at BC.
The Friars were great for beating the struggling teams to start the season and even that was iffy. Imagine where they would be without Beaudry? The kid is a monster but even he can't save EVERYTHING! Beaudry has kept this team for being a total disaster over the past two seasons.
The coming games are going to be very difficult and PC is running out of time before we have another season for no reason on our hands!!!
At this point I could care less if they fire Timmy or not. This program is a mess and not many seem to care any more. Timmy is a joke and Bobby the Hockey Guy is a bit worse.

BTW I would have put out for the Pro but 1. the tab never reached the $100 mark so the rule was NOT in play and 2. I paid the tab.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Any new coach will need at least 5 years to get this mess we call a program back to respectable.......without Beaudry PC would surely be in last place and I cannot imagine why any player would decide on PC if any other school was interested in them, unless they really are not that good......PC may win 2 more games this year if they are a bit lucky, so its off to the basement we go !!!!

I was all happy when it was 1-1 and then it just got worse. Oh well. Maybe we can surprise Maine next weekend? They got murdered by Merrimack last night...anything is possible.

Arnie Davis, the Potato Pin man from Alfond Arena is celebrating his 90th birthday this week. I've started a birthday thread in the Cafe. Make sure to post your birthday wishes to one of the few gentlemen from Maine!

Two future Friars are ranked in the just released NHL Central Scouting rankings for the 2011 NHL draft. Craig Wyszomirski is #141 and Barrett Kaib is #175. It looks like now that Barrett Kaib is coming to PC next year - not 2012. I guess with AV leaving they need him sooner then later. Here's a recent article on Kaib.

Nice write-up but he is a bit small for a D-man at 5'9" 180.....he does have a year to go before he arrives, at least he is a top 200 player

And look how far we have come in a mere 25 years, makes me sick and to think one of the main stays of the 80's has wrecked the team we know today

Timmy had help. The Hockey Guy is just as much to blame for hiring him THEN giving him an unwarranted extension.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Let's face it, the program has headed downhill since the late 80s. The few good years in between, Pooley's first couple and the 2000-2001 team being the exception. I really think the curse was installed when they fired Jerry the netman, not to be confused with our friendly poster, Netman. Things can turn around, but it will take the right combination of personnel, a little luck and a good dose of Hokydad optimism. That being said, go buy a powerball tickets.

It really was fun watching Christ Terrierri spin up the ice after the 85 HEA championship.

For the optimists you can go to Vote for Hobey and cast your ballot for Alex Beaudry - or if you prefer, Ian O'Connor or Kyle MacKinnon.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Should be a good game tonight...I'm not optimistic or anything, but I can't wait to go.

I'm glad he funneled his energy into a team that's 0-5 in the Big East. Sigh.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

The Hockey Guy was busy fixing the basketball program.....now they are both equal.......great job Bob
