Recruiting him was "very easy," Tim chuckled. "I always say to people, it's the first time I ever slept with one of my player's mothers."

excuse me, I just vomited.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Isn't that against the schools teachings and grounds for termination?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

The Projo article says Alex is the second NHL draft pick to leave. They forgot young Mr. Wild , makes three.

The coach is quoted, “You don’t want people leaving your program,” Army said. “But it’s the culture in hockey now. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, but it’s the culture we live in with these kids.” The funny thing to me is that when I hear about players leaving programs early,it's for the most part, to turn pro. These last two are transferring did not follow that route.

Hey 13, where doese your quote of Tim come from?

The article that FreddyFoyle just posted. He's referring to Derek (obviously), but it's still kinda gross.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Disgusting. Sure it's meant to be "funny" but it's classless. Yet I'm not "outraged" as I've become numb to anyone related to him or this team.

Anyway, on a happier note, Merry Christmas Freds and everyone here. :)

No way .... because of the great start to the season the hockey guy will award him another extention to his contract along with a sizable raise

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I won't go back to the games until Army is out, and I was a season ticket holder for many years, and began watching PC hockey in 1974. (The real glory years). I place the fault right at the feet of Driscoll, who controls PC athletics and has the power to hire and fire. The problem with the program goes beyond what happens on the ice, but includes the lack of promotion of the team in the general community, the dead atmosphere at Schneider, the lack of student attendance at a campus facility, the consistent departure of recruited players (usually the better players, a Velishek no less). I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel until Driscoll goes, and that won't happen unless the school Prez cares about what is going on with men's hockey, and I don't think he does.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Dillon you hit the nail on the head. PC in itself has basically been in a downward spiral since Fr. Shanley took office. I don't think he was fully prepared for the job.

Driscoll, the "hockey guy" only cares about basketball. That's it. The amount of resources funneled towards the basketball team is disturbing. The basketball players have people who follow them around and make sure they go to class. None of the other athletes have that. The hockey budget this year was so small they didn't even get tee-shirts to throw out at intermission. Students have been going to more games this year, which is good, but there's absolutely zero atmosphere at the games. We're trying to work on it...but who knows what is going to happen.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

UNB 1 - Providence 1 after 20 minutes. UNB scored just 33 seconds - Dion Campbell. Friars responded on 5-on-3 powerplay at 10:18 with Ian O'Conner scoring.

They played a respectable game and came up short, lets see what Sunday brings

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

After the game Army said he was pretty happy with how they played against "a quality opponent who wouldn't look out of place in Hockey East, and you can see how UNB won a national championship." He said they didn't plan to change much before tomorrow's game against UNB, maybe a few tweaks.
