Mark Fayne called up by the Devils today and is playing tonight vs. Washington. Congrats Mark!

I looked for purple pants but no luck finding them !!!!

The owner was there, the purple pants (sadly) were not. ;)

I actually only stayed for one period. I watched from the FOFH room and left because PC looked like they were on solid footing despite the late goal by NU. I had spent all day at a shooting range in Ledyard CT exploring my inner redneck and was colder then a witch's teet.
I hope to see some of you crazy kids at the UMaine game on Saturday night. I can't make the Friday night tilt.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I know that Jon is not a big fan of the ECAC, but it is part of the Friars' history. The ECAC just annouonced that Ron Wilson is one of its top 50 players of all time. What I find interesting is that as a D-man he is the all time leading scorer at PC. It would be fun to have a D-man like that again. You can read the release here at the ECACHL web site.

On another note, Happy Thanksgiving friends.

I heard that PCO might be hosting a little get together this weekend up at his alma mater, but I do not know the details.

Ironically the only other Friar I would bet would show up on this list when it is said and done would be another defenseman whose son is a Friar defensman.

What I do doubt is that Ronnie's younger brother Brad makes the list and he was an equally good player but he suffered a career ending shoulder injury in the first period of the first game his senior year otherwise he would most likely be PC's 2nd all time leading scorer only about 30 points behind Ronnie.

The game has changed though and duplicating what Ron did his sophomore year likely won't happen unless the game opens back up. Wilson scored something like 86 or 87 points in what was then a 27 game schedule. However I bet that year in those 27 games they scored double digit goals at least a half dozen times. I think that team averaged 7 goals or so a game.

FYI, the Holy Cross game is at 3pm not 7pm like originally on the schedule.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

From the looks of the box score they did play an excellent third period......HC got very few shots on goal and PC got plenty......if they can do more of this then they have a shot at a playoff spot, but now they start playing the big boys of HE......time will tell

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Friars just picked up a high end commit for the fall of 2012 - Barrett Kaib is a defenseman playing on the U.S Under 18 team.

The Pittsburgh area native is 5' 10" 175, and will play next year in the USHL. Before playing last year for the U.S Under 17 team (where he got hurt and missed most of the year) he played at Culver Academy - which is a very good hockey program. The below article was written before he started playing in the U.S Development program - but is a nice piece on the type of player he is - and can be.

A real nice pick up. Again though, won't see him until 2012.

PC91, we have some bad news. Or good news, if you like insulting people...

Guess who is back?

I think I know who you mean.... Our cyberpuss is back!!!

He must have been on vacation the past couple of weeks either heckling the breast cancer survivors or razzing the athletes at Special Olympics. You'd all be disgusted to read the rep that he left for one BC poster. Only a parasite would say what he says to people as he HIDES behind a computer.

Anyway, I want you all to remember that now he's back so you have to flush twice. Once for the bulk and a second time for the remainder!!!

Is there any way to view Cox3 outside of RI? Is there an internet stream anywhere?

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

Nice article today in the Portland Press Herald about Kevin Hart and special teams...
http://www.pressherald.com/sports/penalty-kill-key-for-the-black-bears_2010-12-03.html

Thanks for posting. With Velischek back, I thought Hart or Harvey would get a break, as Shamanski has played well since being in the line-up - but vs. Holy Cross, Shamanski was the odd man out. Maybe this weekend, we'll see him back in the line-up. Harvey's played decent, but doesn't seem to have to much offense to his game. I like Shamanski's total game.

Re: Providence College 2010-2011 - Things are looking up.

I love it when Hockey East attempts to screw over PC and they fail. HAAHAHAHAHAHA!

(we're going to get clobbered tomorrow night if we spend that much time on the PK)
