Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

This is the first and only post I will ever put in this thread. Hokeydad has driven me insane and I can no longer take it.

I started following this thread this season to read some good PC banter as I graduated last year and no longer have the luxury of being in the thick of things.

I'm just going to break everything down here, almost all of it directed at hockeymoron:

1. You constantly get upset at people because you perceive that people on this board are attacking "kids". Well heres the situation; this is not peewee hockey. These are not a bunch of kids out having a good time. First of all they're hardly kids by age standards, 18 of the players on the roster are at least 21 years old. Secondly Hockey East schools don't play for fun, they play to win. People's livelihoods(Coach's (ironically Army), anybody that works with the hockey program, the AD to an extent, the entire program itself) are determined by the success these "kids" have on the ice. There's revenue (at least there used to be) to be made by the school based on these "kids". These "kids" are given money to go get a great education at PC in exchange for their athletic talents. I still don't think college kids should get ripped on like pros should, BUT, they should absolutely be open to criticism if it's deserved. With that being said I've yet to see one person on this board attack a single player like you accuse people of doing. Thank god you're not a college hoops fan hockeydad your head would explode with the way those kids get dumped on. On to the next point...

2. Being optimistic is a good thing, but being blindly optimistic is not. You (hockeydad) continue to use your "optimism" as a reason to ignore facts. That just doesn't work. You have to look at the reality of the situation. You can't look at this team's season and react with "well lets look at the positives...". A person that does that either isn't a fan of the team at all, has the most nonchalant view of sports I've ever seen or is from a different planet. Right now I think you might be all three. Which leads me to my third point...

3. You accuse the real PC fans on this board of being constantly negative. They're not. They care. When somebody points out that Army is going to lose 100 games and he loses 99 is that being negative and hoping for the team to lose or is that pointing out reality? Would the team have won more games had a few people on this board not said these things? No. It doesn't change the outcomes of the games at all. If the people on board of the Titanic started thinking happy thoughts and pointing out the tiny tiny positives they could find, perhaps the violinist playing well on deck, what would have happened? The ship STILL would have ended up at the bottom of the ocean. I don't know about you but I'd rather make myself well aware that the ship is sinking, point it out and try to do something about it.

4. You point to looking towards next year and that the future is bright. How is this future at all bright? They've been getting worse every year since Army took over. They finished dead last in the nation in goals scored, and 10 points out of 9th place, yes hokeydad they were in last by 10 points. Army has proven he can't recruit top talent (oh my gosh did I just attack a kid hockeydad!?!?!?! Or did i point out that because they have 4 consecutive losing seasons and back to back last place finishes I've concluded that they must not have top talent, you be the judge) and he can't develop talent either. On top of that nobody is showing up to games anymore and it seems as though there is very little backing from the administration. I guess the only thing you might be right about is that the only place they can go is up.

5. You think that only "3-4" people have the view they're expressing on this board. Newsflash, it's everyone that follows PC hockey except you (but I don't really believe you follow PC hockey so you don't count). How else do you explain barely anyone showing up to games. And worst of all it's spread to the student body. Apathy is a horrible thing hokeydad.

6. To everyone on this board: I don't know how you've put up with this guy. He's an enigma of epic proportions. Like I said I've been following this board for most of the year and I still cant figure out his agenda, it doesn't make sense. Anyways, heres to hoping this program can turn around (yes hokeydad people want this program to succeed, hence them caring so much) and to hoping that the program doesn't eventually get cut, which I think is the ultimate fear of a lot of people on here, myself included. (Gee wizz hokeydad I wonder if that fear has people wanting to get a new coach and the program to change????).

That is all. I don't plan on posting on this board ever again. I've said my piece. Keep the faith.;)

Thank you, FirstTimeLongTime, for not only a brilliant post but basically summing up the entire argument I've had with this clown since he showed up last autumn. You've touched upon topics I've gone round and round with him on -- and I even mentioned the Titanic analogy months ago -- but every time you try to engage him, and have a rational discussion about things like statistics (which he laughs off!), he runs away and calls you Eeyore.

For trolls like him, it's easier to criticize the messenger instead of the message, so to speak -- but even then, why he can't understand that PC fans are beyond upset over this program's descent over the years into a bottom place team is just head scratching. No matter what the reason is, his game is so transparent, all you need to do is see how well-respected he is on other teams' threads to realize it's all just a joke.

Anyway thanks for joining us -- it's good to see some new blood joining the conversation and making me, at least, realize it's not those of us here who are sane.

agreed

I am very insecure and need to be negative. I want to sit around after the season is over and say the same negative, non productive things over and over and over again.

I want to write 50 or 60 posts about nothing.

New blood joining what conversation? I put up statistics and you start screaming about a tie with Bowling Green.

My prediction is next year is the year, will be back in play offs

It's the comedy that he brings to the board. Although at times I watch what I type since he will look to get you banned from the boards.

Does the Hokydopie and he twist it all around!:D :D

It's all an optical illusion. The fans here are responsible for manipulating the masses. You keep repeating the same negative thoughts over and over. Remember this isn't Auschwitz. And they tied Northeastern.

;)

oh and i remembered once hokydad said that posts on here dissuade recruits from coming...that's not true. two of my friends were both recruited by PC and both chose other schools because they did not want to be around tim army. not because USCHO posts were negative. they didn't need a website to tell that PC wasn't the best environment for hockey development.

go to class, you are starting to look like your skipping to many English sessions
your full of crap with your story as well

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

Only Hokydad would be debating a UNH fan on the lack of optimism regarding PC hockey. Because UNH fans are all in league with PC. We're best friends,
all the nasty comments from UNH fans I've read over the years about the Friars were a figment of my overactive imagination.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some good friends to talk to about my undying love for the Canadiens, Lakers, Yankees, Dolphins, and Rangers. C'mon UnhCat07, desevrings are on me...

What a predictable response. Cut and paste! Cut and paste! :p :p :p

EVERYONE here now is full of crap -- right Hokydad? This thread is just a manipulation of the masses. An island of one offering truth and justice -- and of course, no evidence or information to back any of his statements up. Ever.

Hokydad said:

your = pronoun that describes a possession, i.e. "your posts make no sense" "your posts make me want to kill myself"
you're= a contraction meaning "you are", i.e. "you're an idiot" (you are an idiot) "you're a waste of space on this board" (you are a waste of space on this board)

so, ironically hokydad, YOU are the one who needs to go back to English class. Also, my earliest class on Fridays is at 12:30. I wasn't skipping. My story is not full of crap either, it's the truth. :D

Thats your vice saty.

I dont have a clue what the students are thinking, most of their parents dont. I do though know that he does not have 2 friends who said no to PC because of TA.
that I know is bs
