Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

Don't forget We tied NU and beat BG woooohoooo:D

and Notre Dame, BU twice, Maine, U Mass, U Mass Lowell and tied MC, Lowell, UVM and Northeastern. Also had 4- 1 goal losses and 2 OT losses.

With a little Irish Luck... You never know.

HM, it looks like you un-ignored your ignore button. Just too much to pass up, eh? :p

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

so we haven't been good since i was six? wonderful.

Well, they were good in 1999, 2001, the last half of 2003 and first few months of Army's reign.

And there were the occasional nifty playoff victories like winning in OT against UNH and the Tyler Sims show at Agannis one year. But other than that... sigh.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

me, which is what you should focus on

not manipulating the masses

We are focused on you. Everyone is saying you are a moron. Hell, the Mack BU playoff thread zings you in the title. Dope!

He's STILL excited that they tied Northeastern!

Guess you missed the memo that they didn't make the playoffs either!

In all honesty, this is the lowest-ranked Hockey East conference arguably on record. A few wins in a 34 game season don't prove anything when you end up losing 20 games and finish 10th.

With a little Irish Luck... You never know.

This team is nowhere close to just needing "luck" to be good. When you finish 10 points back of a mediocre conference's 9th place team, and have the worst offense in Division 1 -- you need more than luck.

Your pronouncements are so baseless they're laughable. You said the same thing in November about where the team was going -- most of us told you different. Look who ended up being wrong. :p

maine's starting goalie and one of their decent forwards was injured during the PC game...although as a native black bear it was nice to see the friars beat them.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

Looks like the attendance at your men's games next year might not even get as large as your women's team. Watch out they'll soon be closing the rink and flooding the parking lot behind it and play there.

Don't laugh, you may not be far off the mark.

You assume that they'll even be playing ice hockey in the near future.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

We won't have any more fans OTHER than those 3-4 people the way this is going.
lets hope not.....

Hokydad...you're just not very bright, are you?

And what PC fans do YOU SPEAK FOR?
So, you're a PC fan? but I thought you "don[']t follow any team":
I dont follow any team, focus on players

And, as others have noted, none of those posts you quoted about the "Race to 100" had anything to do with the players, other than that Army coaches them. If you're going to take every shot at Army as a shot at the players...well, I guess you'd post exactly as you have been.

My recommendation is that you stop following college hockey. At the very least stop reading the boards. You obviously do not have the mental/emotional make-up for it. Fans of the team have a right to be critical of the team - players including. These "kids" are adults, and most receive various benefits for playing (i.e. they're not just playing in some rec league for free). I'm sure most expect to be criticized when they play poorly, and I'm sure many, if not all, are strong enough to handle it. And if they're not, they probably shouldn't be playing at this level.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?

This is the first and only post I will ever put in this thread. Hokeydad has driven me insane and I can no longer take it.

I started following this thread this season to read some good PC banter as I graduated last year and no longer have the luxury of being in the thick of things.

I'm just going to break everything down here, almost all of it directed at hockeymoron:

1. You constantly get upset at people because you perceive that people on this board are attacking "kids". Well heres the situation; this is not peewee hockey. These are not a bunch of kids out having a good time. First of all they're hardly kids by age standards, 18 of the players on the roster are at least 21 years old. Secondly Hockey East schools don't play for fun, they play to win. People's livelihoods(Coach's (ironically Army), anybody that works with the hockey program, the AD to an extent, the entire program itself) are determined by the success these "kids" have on the ice. There's revenue (at least there used to be) to be made by the school based on these "kids". These "kids" are given money to go get a great education at PC in exchange for their athletic talents. I still don't think college kids should get ripped on like pros should, BUT, they should absolutely be open to criticism if it's deserved. With that being said I've yet to see one person on this board attack a single player like you accuse people of doing. Thank god you're not a college hoops fan hockeydad your head would explode with the way those kids get dumped on. On to the next point...

2. Being optimistic is a good thing, but being blindly optimistic is not. You (hockeydad) continue to use your "optimism" as a reason to ignore facts. That just doesn't work. You have to look at the reality of the situation. You can't look at this team's season and react with "well lets look at the positives...". A person that does that either isn't a fan of the team at all, has the most nonchalant view of sports I've ever seen or is from a different planet. Right now I think you might be all three. Which leads me to my third point...

3. You accuse the real PC fans on this board of being constantly negative. They're not. They care. When somebody points out that Army is going to lose 100 games and he loses 99 is that being negative and hoping for the team to lose or is that pointing out reality? Would the team have won more games had a few people on this board not said these things? No. It doesn't change the outcomes of the games at all. If the people on board of the Titanic started thinking happy thoughts and pointing out the tiny tiny positives they could find, perhaps the violinist playing well on deck, what would have happened? The ship STILL would have ended up at the bottom of the ocean. I don't know about you but I'd rather make myself well aware that the ship is sinking, point it out and try to do something about it.

4. You point to looking towards next year and that the future is bright. How is this future at all bright? They've been getting worse every year since Army took over. They finished dead last in the nation in goals scored, and 10 points out of 9th place, yes hokeydad they were in last by 10 points. Army has proven he can't recruit top talent (oh my gosh did I just attack a kid hockeydad!?!?!?! Or did i point out that because they have 4 consecutive losing seasons and back to back last place finishes I've concluded that they must not have top talent, you be the judge) and he can't develop talent either. On top of that nobody is showing up to games anymore and it seems as though there is very little backing from the administration. I guess the only thing you might be right about is that the only place they can go is up.

5. You think that only "3-4" people have the view they're expressing on this board. Newsflash, it's everyone that follows PC hockey except you (but I don't really believe you follow PC hockey so you don't count). How else do you explain barely anyone showing up to games. And worst of all it's spread to the student body. Apathy is a horrible thing hokeydad.

6. To everyone on this board: I don't know how you've put up with this guy. He's an enigma of epic proportions. Like I said I've been following this board for most of the year and I still cant figure out his agenda, it doesn't make sense. Anyways, heres to hoping this program can turn around (yes hokeydad people want this program to succeed, hence them caring so much) and to hoping that the program doesn't eventually get cut, which I think is the ultimate fear of a lot of people on here, myself included. (Gee wizz hokeydad I wonder if that fear has people wanting to get a new coach and the program to change????).

That is all. I don't plan on posting on this board ever again. I've said my piece. Keep the faith.;)

He just enjoys being a rain clud.

Are things looking that dire at PC? That would be simply awful. Aside from the obvious reasons, we need more college hockey in this country, not less!

The positives.

1. The skating Friar is the best logo in college hockey.
2. Alex Beaudry is exceptional.
3. I do think the kids play hard.
4. The friends of Friars room is beautiful.
5. There is a new Excel hand dryer is awesome in the bathrooms below the office.
6. I do think there is some talent on the team.
7.

So, your version of "seeing positive" is attacking fans (personally, at times) of a team for stating their opinions?

You say, "Thats the beauty of America, you can have opinions." So let people have their opinions, already!

I don't care to reread pages and pages of you telling people they're wrong to share their opinions.

As for the taking a "peak" in the mirror, I'm not quite sure where I've tried to tell anyone what to think, or how to be a fan. Unlike, oh, let's say, you.
