Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

And not only that, but they were outshot 30-23 -- even with 8 power play chances, double the time that Maine had in the box! That's downright pathetic.

Needless to say, it's not a good way to open up this stretch. The reality is that if they don't win 2 of the next 3 games heading into Christmas break, they're going to be behind the eight-ball again in the conference. And the way HE is going, the Friars might well finish again near the bottom simply because the "weak" part of the league is better than it was a year ago...Merrimack is improved, BU can't be this bad...PC needs to pick things up here quickly.

HM there ARE 7 wins this year. Just one more makes this a more successful season then last. Last week would have clinched it for PC! I hope it doesn't haunt us.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

That is why we lost we were out shot......players won't listen to the coaches, they tell them to score but they refuse to do it.....need new players that have heart......but we have 7 wins a good start for a great season

Glass has spilled all but a drop

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

PC limited Maine to 2 goals (3rd goal was an empty net short handed). Beaudry played well and I thought the Fryars skated very well. PC really needed to score on one of those 8 or 9 PP's.:(
Yeah, I thot PC played very well last night. It wuzza great game....up and down the ice, physical at times, couldnt ask for anything more as a fan. PC really did blow it on the PP. Anytime you get 5 or 6 more PP's than the other team you gotta capitalize on that advantage. Now we'll see how they can handle 5 or 6 more penalty killz tonight. :D

Maine is better then billed, as is PC,. Good game last night. Should be a good game tonight. Would be good if they could grab 2 points.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Yes. Having a power play that doesn't go 0-8 would help.

agreed, needs to at least convert on 1 of those. Especially since 4 in the first period were all full 2 minute PP's. First one was for only 37 seconds. All 3 in the 3rd were full 2 minutes as well as they pulled for an extra over last 2 minutes, thus 6/4.

That is an obvious issue. When you get 14 full minutes of 5/4 and 2 minutes of 6/5 AT MAINE, you better take advantage of it.

Tonight will be better.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

I thought PCs PP was awful, they didn't even get it set up in the first. But they got plenty of practice so tonight they should cash in if Maine plays like that again.Beaudry was awesome as was Team D.PC played hard the whole game

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Not a frequent poster, but have a question.
Heard TA being interviewed tonight between periods. When asked about the power play, in effect, he said that he gives the players some basic ideas and then it is up to them to figuer out how to go from there. Don't these guys at this stage of their game, need detailed guidence? It sounded to me like he thinks he is coaching a pro team that has a wealth of experience and does not require a lot of detailed coaching.

Careful gofriars, Hokydad will require you to provide much more evidence than “what you heard”. How dare you come to a fan forum and post anything about Providence College Hockey. Please refer to Hokydads rules and note that all posts need to be approved through his infinite wisdom of college hockey. By the way he has determined recently that it’s inappropriate to discuss Tim Army, Armys shortcomings and the teams lack od success.

On a side note, great point gofriars!! :D

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

That has been my point from long ago......he is a pro coach like Rick Pitino is a college coach and he should resign and go back to the pros

Oh no another fan falling to all the negative influence of all the uninformed fans who post up here (excluding Hokydad obviously). Someone go get dose of Hokydas positive posting material. Hurry, we can’t afford to lose another fan to the reality of the programs situation. Hurry I tell ya, we might be able to help/fix/save this one!!

It was probably all the negative fans up here that failed the team and their ability to "take advantage of it"!!

#1 stop and thinks to himself....ooooOOO I should just stop and be happy that we had a team on the ice. Even better we scored one goal on 23 shots. Awesome job, we’re turning the corner I just know it! Please happily add one more to the loss column.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Another idiotic loss to URHigh today. How the hell does Driscoll keep his job? Last place team in HE, lower to middle of pack Big East basketball team. Great job. Just... awesome job.

Why the **** do we go down there every other year anyways? What, so the team have the joy of being jobbed by third rate A-10 refs? **** this.

Nice group of Fryar fans in attendance last night. They didn't have a lot to cheer about. Very polite and courteous. Nicest group all year.

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Ah, those were actually Big east refs. that's even worse. God they suck at life.

Good to see the Big East is rifling through the ECAC's leftovers...

It's easy to be nice to nice folks. :D
Your fans are always very welcoming and make coming up for the games fun. A number of us have been doing it for years whenever possible and have enjoyed meeting a number of you.
Hopefully some of you will be coming down to the game at PC this season. We look forward to showing you all some real flatlander hospitality. :)

They haven't worked on your car yet, have they?

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Are you sure those were fans not the players trying to be nice so you would like them for not hurting your guys......we will soon be removing the pads as we have no need for them, they are used to hit people and we do not do that.....we love everyone and hope everyone loves us......we feel its wrong to take advantage of a team when one of their players makes a small mistake and we have extra players on the ice because of it, we will wait until he returns then give him the puck as a good will gesture........we are good people.....our new motto.......love

Re: Providence - 2009-10 In-season Thread

Maine is better then billed, as is PC.

Except one team is 3rd and the other is still dead last in 10th.

BTW you really need to get over the wins over Bowling Green, Brown and Holy Cross. Yeah they beat ND once, that's nice, but they're not exactly lighting the world on fire right now anymore either. The point is that it's December now. You want all of us to get over last year -- you need to get over last month. :D
