The 75-year-old canary in my coal mine has gone from righteous indignation, to flustered irritation, to quiet sorrow over the state of the world. I quote, "there's corruption everywhere." I think half the time he doesn't even turn on Fox anymore. The saddest thing is that he will no doubt vote for Trump anyway, but without any of the enthusiasm he had last time.
I'm optimistic when I think of the difference in enthusiasm levels for 2020. There's no way Trump gains voters over his 2016 totals. There is every reason to hope the democratic candidate will generate far more enthusiasm/survival voting than Hillary did.
As I pointed out in 2016, Trump is the worst thing to ever happen to the GOP.

The GOP was "The Revenge of the Jocks." Enraged their lives peaked in high school, they poured out their impotent rage as the Echo Chamber egged them on and the wingnut welfare brigade squeezed every cent out of them. The world only got younger, the pretty girls gave it up to the smart liberal nerds, and O'Reilly and Hannity were left crying into their scotch and soda, ogling the Honduran maid who put a restraining order on them, before an uninspired fapping to a tattered photo of Sarah Palin's wide mouth beaver on an endangered polar bear rug, then alcoholic pass out, and oblivion.
