POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

You're right.
Words != Actions

But where are these "take my rights" actions that we were told Obama would do? I still have my firearms. And I'm yet to see a flag-burner in jail from a Trump action (albeit it is not Jan 20 yet either).

Until the rhetoric (and that's what all is) becomes actual action, it's, well, rhetoric.

So because predictions about Obama from the right were wrong, predictions about Trump from the left will also be wrong?

That's not how logic works.

No, it's not. But fool me once ...

For all the dire warnings about Mr. Obama what'd we get? Gay marriage and transgender bathrooms. < shrug > < chuckle >

I'm in the camp with Kep's "uncle-in-law" (and I do believe that's a thing): sit back and enjoy the circus. I'll take it seriously when I see the first flag burner charged by Trump's AG.

For now, it's the "180" of 2008: one side is sure ruination is at hand because other side won.

don't ask Sic to apply logic an reasoning to his thought process.

also Obama never said anything about taking people's gunz!!!! away. Trump HAS said things about a Muslim registry, making flag-burning illegal, employing torture, etc, etc, etc

so on one hand, the fear was based on completely made up ****. and on the other hand the fear is based on THINGS TRUMP HAS SAID AND DONE AND WHO HE IS SURROUNDING HIMSELF WITH

completely different

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

No. He wouldn't. Fearing someone is a tyrant is not the same as the person being a tyrant, and all the flapdoodle about Obama's tyranny for the last 7 years was red meat thrown around to keep the minions frothing at the mouth.

Obama's been an honorable and law-abiding president, and this despite a near-treasonous campaign of sabotage embarked on by the GOP prior to his inauguration and lasting all the way until this 1/20. You'll never get it, but he's a good man who did a good job, and realizes what our government is about and has protected that.

Agree 100%
People can argue about his policies, but his demeanor and the way he conducted the office are the best at least since Eisenhower, if not Cleveland.

Disagree 100%. Well maybe not 100% but some. ;) Disagreeing with BO's policies here , in more than a few instances, prompted a overt or thinly-veiled claim of racism against the opponent. Not dissimilar to the claims of misogyny/sexism when opposing HRC. I have great respect for BO despite not agreeing with several of policies/decisions.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

You mean like the dire warnings about the Weather Underground (Bill Ayers) and Saul Alinsky connections then, or SK Bannon now?

oh yeah, Bill Ayers and Saul Alinsky -- I remember those Obama cabinet members!

Talk about more made up ****. Turns out Obama did not have a close relationship with Bill Ayers.

Took a look at who my local rep was, saw a link to see bills he sponsored or co-sponsored, and then found the Congress.gov link for every bill the 115th Congress has introduced.

Quite interested in:
- HR34 - Repeal of the Gun Free School Zone Act of 1990 and all amendments.
- HR43 - To amend Title 38 of the US Code to authorize use of Post 9/11 Educational Assistance for independent study programs at institutions not of higher learning.
- HR49 - Direct Dept of Interior to establish a competitive oil/gas lease program.
- HR54 - Direct Dept of Homeland Security to study establishing a Civilian Cyber Defense National Resource.
- HR80 - Suspend admissions of refugees.
- HR81 - Suspend and terminate admission of refugees.
- HR83 - Prohibit federal funds from being used within Sanctuary Cities.
...
And a whole lot of amendments to the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
Especially HR198 - Repeal federal estate and gift taxes.

Weeeeeeeeee!!!!! Fun times ahead!!

Glad they got their priorities in order to help ease the economic anxiety of the people.

Didn't vote for him but can't stop coming to his defense nor falsely equating him to Obama/Hillary.

False Equivalency is a conservative ideal nowadays. You can't get them out of it and you can't make them understand it.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

And a mere eight years ago so many were sure Obama would be a tyrant, before he'd ever taken the oath.

.

Sure would love to see you back up this BS with some actual references and citations.

I think it would be a useful exercise to blog the danger signs / actualities of the loss of rights and democratic institutions and guards over the next four years. Maybe that list will stay at 0. But I wouldn't count on it.

I'm torn because on the one hand I think Trump is a nullity and the presidency's contribution to the next four years will be zero, but I also think Trump is a megalomaniacal narcissistic as-shole who will threaten to nuke Paris if the French turn down his license for a 160-story solid gold Eiffel Tower built on the site of the bulldozed Louvre. ("I like artists who are alive. The Renaissance is for losers."), which suggests, um, bad things, and mostly I fear that the absence of any restraint on a drunken plute Congress will cause the kind of massive social upheaval that invites The Usual Suspects to impose Draconian measures. Not martial law or any of Flag's lazy fantasies, but even more police brutality and even more presumption of guilt if you fit a profile.

Why would, during South Park's "About Last Night", which was done the week of the 2008 election, they talk about McCain voters becoming suicidal?

Heck, even back then, I thought he'd make more progress on destroying the country than he actually did.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: We Are So Totally F%*#ed

When you're out to rally to an it's-us-or-them! cause, does it matter?

Yes, because one represents a real threat and the other is nonsense.

You mean like the dire warnings about the Weather Underground (Bill Ayers) and Saul Alinsky connections then, or SK Bannon now?

You're comparing 'chief strategist' to 'guy he once attended the same party as'. You are the king of false equivalencies.

You don't recall Republicans flying these accusations about Obama prior to him taking office? The things I heard coming from his detractors would've been a really funny bit had they not been entirely serious.

Here's a link to a collection of the zany accusations made about Pres. Obama during the run up to the election and through his term in office.

What does that have to do with claims before the election of Obama being a tyrant? Think, McFly, think.

So the right fooled you with Obama, but they're definitely the ones to bet on to be accurate with respect to Trump?

Good luck with that.

Still nothing about him ruling as a tyrant. Plenty of other nutjobby stuff though, which I'm sure Sicatoka inhaled deeply.
