POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Guys, this is all a lot of blah blah blah. Trump could nominate the next coming of Albert Einstein or he could nominate Bozo the Clown. It'll all have the same effect, which is Trump will do what Trump will do regardless of whatever the very people he's chosen to nominate tell him. If you want to influence Trump get to his daughter or son-in-law. Otherwise you're wasting your time. Everybody else is window dressing.

But then, Hillary didn't run on "draining the swamp," did she?

And it's clear she would've picked fewer generals and business people than Trump. She would've likely picked people with actual government experience.

Which is why she lost. For better or for worse, the electorate wanted nothing to do with business as usual.

This graph sums up pretty well what independent thinkers the Rs are. Give em a rub on the head and tell them what good puppies they are.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

The same thing you would have seen from Hilary

Maybe. But the Donald was supposed to be different. Draining the swamp, and all that.

Suckers.

The reason we may be hearing more about Trump's cabinet appointments is because he's treating the process like an episode of Celebrity Apprentice.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Obama nominated a respected nuclear physicist to head the Department of Energy. Trump picked the 12th-place finisher on Dancing with the Stars. That's why there's more scrutiny. We want an accurate record of exactly how you ****ed us over.

A guy whose college major was in Animal Husbandry.

I remember when Republicans actually used to hate the Russians. Now they want to sell our country out to them.

It's OK now that they're a oligopolist strongman regime, rather than a socialist strongman regime.

They hate Jhina too, so double bonus points.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Were you actually expecting to give approval to any appointments Trump makes? I can tell you from the start that I didn't expect anyone on this board, save perhaps a couple people, to have a positive opinion of any of Trump's handlers' appointments.

I would have been fine with Romney...

Same here, but that ship has sailed.

We will get our oil magnates, and our Texas A&M flunkies, and our married-to-a-pyramid-schemers, and our Chainsaw (g)Als, and our military men with questionable ethics records, and we will like them!

And yet that's exactly what we're getting - business as usual. Cronyism isn't limited to DC insiders.

Haven't we heard since Obama was elected to the victors go the spoils? You didn't really believe the BS he was spewing, did ya?

Maybe someone can fill me in on what the greatly respected nuclear physicist did as head of the Dept of Energy. He got rid of coal I guess? Who did that help, well for one Exxon Mobil I'm sure they have plenty of Natty gas to sell for power generation. I know one person getting rid of coal didn't help and thats Hilary :).

why isn't the cia (or other US intelligence agencies) interfering in russian elections? hacking and releasing emails in russian pseudo-news organizations?

Gawke... Err... Deadspin's The Concourse nails it again.

This is not a discussion of whether or not we like or agree with Donald Trump’s policies. This is a discussion of what we require in exchange for the public trust. The nation’s highest job should carry the highest burden of purity. Not as a way to ensure that the president makes decisions that we agree with, but to ensure that the president’s motivations are pure. The plain existence of conflicts of interest makes that impossible. Even if you support Donald Trump, you will never, ever be able to know that he is acting to further the interests of the public, rather than the interests of himself, his family, and his allies.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Let me ask a slightly related question, and I ask this question in all seriousness. Do you get the sense we have seen an abnormal amount of press coverage of the Trump cabinet appointments, or in some cases, non-appointments, compared to other President-elects? By abnormal I just mean a lot more and a lot closer coverage.

I think there has been a greater amount of coverage. Two reasons for that. First, every time you put Trump's misshapen, loathesome visage on the tube it's ratings gold, so the networks do it 24/7. In another election Obama considering Tom Vilsack for Secretary of Agriculture is my god I barely got through typing that without falling asleep.

Second reason is that so many of these appointments have been a cross between a train wreck and a Benny Hill skit. The transition team has been teasing appointments like "next time on The Bachelor." And then the eventual picks have been ludicrous -- SNL summed it up perfectly with Walter White as head of the DEA.
