It's just going to get worse now. The Democrats are the only ones who want single payer. Big Pharma, and Big Insurance are going to get tax cuts and bigger pieces of the medicine pie.

That's actually where the two stories converge. Romney's original motivations are what are in dispute. I think. Anyway, yeah, he'd have been better off, in hindsight, going on a lecture tour or something.

He can say he took the high road. And here's the thing about Romney: he's not really cut out to be a martyr. Not exactly a profile in courage. Chromium Caligula did him a favor.

So you couldn't make a call, just to confirm that it was actually him who contacted you? Lazy, and stupid. Maybe if you'd done that, you could have taken steps that would have given you something to report.

This may be what happens. Think about it, while Goopers in Congress would happily gut healthcare for their voters, I'm not so sure Trump will simply for political reasons. So, how do you claim to 1) "repeal" Obamacare, but 2) craft a replacement that doesn't kick 25M-50M people off of insurance? Two ways. First would be a gimmicky bill repealing the law but allowing the Prez to wave the implementation of the repeal each year until a replacement is decided upon. Absurd I know, but look who we're dealing with. The second option is a Medicaid buy in. Anybody enrolled in the ACA in 2017 lets say and receiving a subsidy will now be enrolled in Medicaid and pay the same out of pocket costs as they were previously in their ACA plans. That keeps everybody happy. Insurers can live with not being able to deny coverage since a lot of people will just be on Medicaid. Wouldn't need mandate as much as well. Finally you're leveraging an existing program that people like.

I can't see 51 votes in the Senate to get rid of the Medicaid expansion even if phased out. That's an easy vote for red state Dems like Manchin to take, and I'm not sure what recently re-elected people like Murkowski or Portman get out it since their own governors accepted the expansion.

Oh, and as for Trump supporters' regrets?

Mentioned it to the same guy from work last week, all the Goldman Sachs people running the economy, how Hillary was evil cause she qwas too tied to wall Street, the other cabinet choices, how he was beyotching about how his insurance cost too much, but now there won't even be Obamacare, how the economy's gonna be ruined, etc.

"Don't care, I got my job".

Cared a whole lot a month ago, now "just doesn't care". Told hi to pay attention, actually see what's going on, not just what the Trumpster says.

You really think they would be ok with a raise in their precious taxes to support Single Payer? Not a chance in hell. These people are so stupid they are shocked the man they voted for because he "says it like it is" and "can be trusted unlike Hillary" is doing exactly what he said he was going to do and repeal their health care.

I know, cause they're stupid. They can't fathom that even a $4-5000 increase in their taxes will be offset by not having to pay $10-12000 in insurance premiums.

It's analogous to the GOP tax shell game. They lower your taxes $5k, but by lowering the taxes of the wealthy by $5M they open up a huge budget deficit. As the debt service eats up the budget they cut back social programs -- so the middle class tax payer is hurt doubly: they pay the debt service run up by the rich's tax holiday, and they pay by the deterioration of social programs, both in opportunity cost for themselves and in the increased costs as the poor turn to drugs and crime. This destroys the middle class which removes an impediment to the wealthy gaining greater control over the economy and the political system, and this goes on as a vicious cycle generation after generation.

Meanwhile, there are just enough useful idiots in the middle class spouting GOP talking points to keep the system moving.

So Kurt Eichenwald at Newsweek has been tweeting out a comprehensive list of Trumps lies...and one I didnt know what that he never actually got his MBA from Wharton. He went there for two years as an undergrad but that was it. He has no MBA. I honestly didnt know that...

Remember though folks it was Hillary that couldnt be trusted cause she lied ;)

His father also bought him into Wharton. He always claims that he's Ivy League therefore he's got a good brain (which believe me is neither a necessary nor sufficient condition), but in this case it was the money that was "good."

I had no idea Wharton even had undergrads. I thought it was just another MBA conveyor belt for people not quite quick enough for Med school or a PhD program.
