POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

This goes on in my office, too. To give you an idea, in this professional working environment our office manager put up a "Naughty" and "Nice" list on her door as part of our Holid-oh-who-am-I-kidding Christmas decoration contest, and within a day the "Naughty" side included Hillary, Libs, and Emails. When I didn't complain my boss kind of hesitantly asked me why (he knows I make Antonio Gramsci look like Murray Rothbard) and when I replied "It's a good example of the mentality of some people" I got some very un-Christian looks. :p

And you don't think the exact same thing would happen here, only with "naughty" and "nice" reversed? Welcome to the polarization of the country. An intentional means to divide the populace, so they can start going after each other, only for globalists to sweep in and take over everything. When stuck in a two-party struggle, always beware the quiet third.

I was very surprised to see it happen in a professional environment. I think civil norms have started to break down, and I think that is a very bad sign.

I've worked in this environment for 12 years, and in this industry, which is all like this, for almost 15. Until this year I never felt that people on the other side were unfriendly or even angry about being in a workspace with someone 180 degrees politically opposite. With some of them I even have friendships and running jokes where we shake our heads at the other's "craziness." I think even those who are as far out on the right as I am on the left actually felt a type of kinship because they were used to being similarly "our of step" with their coworkers.

But over the last year things have changed and people are much more likely now to say rude things about "those libturds" even in my presence. It's as if the public space agreement we all have implicitly is breaking down.

We're a long, long way from Rwanda, but the path from where we were to there runs through here.

Another thing that baffles me about my coworker and other Christians (I'm a Christian, so I mean "certain Christians other than myself"): The imaginary War on Christmas. We got a general email that said, "Happy Holidays" and he started going on about how it's a crying shame that nobody is allowed to say "Christmas" publicly. Now, I have never been reprimanded for using the word, and I'm willing to bet he never has either. So his complaint is apparently that our secular employer didn't use the word "Christmas" in a greeting that was sent out to about 10,000 people of very diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. Does anyone, Christian or non, but especially any Christian, really want to dilute the meaning of Christ so much that it will have the same usage and meaning among people of every faith and lack thereof? WHY?
...Sorry about the gear grinding. Happy Holidays, everyone...

That's just programming from the Echo Chamber. Here you can tell what people will be saying in a month based on the poutrage airing on Fox that day.

And these are the same people who complain the most about "media indoctrination." One has to laugh to keep from crying.

The apolitical Christians in my office all say the "War on Christmas" is just bullsh-t their crazy uncle spews.

And then you can say, "Here's a list of all holidays celebrated in December, many of which are for religions that are not Christian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multinational_festivals_and_holidays"

Heck, even "holidays" is now under attack. http://www.nationalreview.com/artic...lusive-fiscal-year-texas-professor-guidelines

It's not about attacking a single holiday. It's all about controlling the populace and reducing the vocabulary. You want to wish me a Happy Kwanzaa? Fine, that's your prerogative. There's no superpower that's going to kick anyone's ***. A good Christmas to you, and good day.

I kind of hate to admit that in my world of left and right extremists, I've more or less given up the fight for reason. I spend a lot of time in my little earbud podcast world lately while awaiting Trump's inevitable impeachment, or the fall of civilization, whichever comes first.

that is sad. It's another symptom of the general angst experienced by my Christian coworker. People everywhere are exercising their right to be highly offended by exposure to anything, at any level, that doesn't mesh happily with their personal prior beliefs and experiences. Which sucks for the future of humanity.

Nice to see the incoming administration will be siding with Nazis over Jews.

Hey, they just want a fair and balanced dialog, y'know?

http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/12/mike-flynn-nazi-sympathizers

As The New York Times first reported Monday, Trump’s national security adviser recently sat for a meeting with Heinz-Christian Strache, the leader of the far-right Freedom Party

....

The history of the Austrian Freedom Party itself is hard to disentangle from its anti-Semitic past. The party’s first leader was Anton Reinthaller, a former Nazi official and member of the SS. “This is not just any opposition party: It is one with Nazi sympathies,” Daniel Serwer, a professor at Johns Hopkins University specializing in foreign policy, told the Huffington Post.

Military folks dont resign very easily, especially lifers

I agree. I almost added something along the lines of that basically saying resignation probably wasn't an option in his mind.

But then again, you have to hold yourself accountable before all else.

Reminds me of South Park's first Christmas episode. People get ****ed off about different things, so it has to be taken away, and devolves down to pretty much nothingness. Although I'm sure minimalist composer Philip Glass wouldn't mind... :p

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

One more pet peeve: "Trump would have won the popular vote if California didn't count." Let's take that a little further: "Hillary would have won again if TX didn't count" "Well Trump would have won again if New York didn't count"; "Well Hillary would have won again if the Midwest didn't vote": Let's just boil this down: If my own vote was the only one that counted, as it should be, Bernie would be prez.

I think a lot of it is that people are subjected to political stuff non-stop. Back in the day you read the newspaper in the morning and maybe watched the evening news. Now people are reading the stuff on their computer and phone all day long. There is a lot more material out there too. Hopefully Trump gets us on the right path but things will likely look very similar to how they have been since the turn of the century.

No kidding. How fast do we go through these threads?!

And then there are the people that take an innocent statement and turn it into something political. It's one of the few times I've ever blocked someone on no-longer-for-college-students-Facebook.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

I will say that I enjoy the exchange that takes place here. From all viewpoints. It's pretty good, on the whole.

The voters spoke and that is what they wanted.

As for the "war of Christmas", what is essentially boils down to is "If everybody doesn't believe the same thing I do, I might have to question what I believe in, and that's too scary to even consider."

Oh, like someone saying "Happy Holidays"?
