POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Exactly. It's a common fallacy that just because someone is especially accomplished or talented in one field, they will probably be good at another.

Shockley Syndrome.

In physics, Nobel Prize winner for the invention of the point-contact transistor.

In biology, crackpot racist who believed the races fundamentally differ by intelligence (guess which way?).

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

Why does it seem that the right's total reason for existing is to crush the left?

I'll let Mr. Krauthammer answer that for you:

To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil.

Conservatives think the things you listed are "stupid" (per Krauthammer).
And for blocking their ideas liberals view conservatives as "evil" (per Krauthammer).

Re: POTUS Elect Trump II: Lefties whining and regurgitating fake news

I'm reading this thread and hearing the same "Biblical proportions mass hysteria" cries I heard from the political right a mere 2920 or so days ago, but this time from the left because now their candidate didn't win.

I told folks back then to be skeptical, to brace, but it's not going to go that far.
The Republic will survive and always stops short.
I offer that advice again.

Here's what the chair of Trump's Council of Economic Advisors thought about our economy in December of 2007:

The recession debate is over. It’s not gonna happen. Time to move on.

At a bare minimum, we are looking at Goldilocks 2.0. (And that’s a minimum). The Bush boom is alive and well. It’s finishing up its sixth splendid year with many more years to come.

Nailed it. We're in great hands, folks.

So some conservative, help me here.

Why does it seem that the right's total reason for existing is to crush the left? The left is about creating a positive, forward looking society (i.e., platforms like the ACA and gay marriage)...the right's ultimate goal is to not to advance its own povs, but really destroy the left itself even if it means cozying up to the US worst enemies.

Also, why are all the views of the right just counterviews of the left - whatever the left decides its behind, the right takes the opposite point of view? Unless there is something to react to...the right seems rudderless.

I know this is far too simplistic a response to such a broad and complex question, but I think much of it is hard wired. I take you back (go yourself--I don't remember how to get there) to the article Kep cited months ago about studies about amygdala function in liberals and conservatives. As a result of differences in amygdala function, conservative's brains are more prone to a fear response (or prone to a stronger fear response) to certain stimuli, such as change or foreign threat.

I may have completely misstated or misunderstood what the study showed, because I am admittedly ignorant of such things, but it makes a lot of sense to me. So much of what we do and the way we act is the result of our monkey brains. We may have hitech devices to play with, but we have not yet fully emerged from the cave.

This is my opinion of what the average conservative wants: to work and be left alone. I'd add that I think the vast majority don't have much trust in the government. The start of this was undoubtedly JFK's assassination and everything that has happened in the 50+ years since. I don't think conservatives trust what they can't see with their own eyes either. These in no way reflect my own personal beliefs, just what I have observed.

Ah yes, be left alone. Explains the obsession with abortion, birth control, gay marriage. All that stuff that is so intrusive to the daily life of the conservative

Which is total BS.

Aside from their sticking their noses in all things personal, how does this explain their overwhelming devotion to an imaginary being in the sky? Can't see him, trust him unequivocably.

I seriously doubt those issues matter very much to the average conservative but what would I know.

Guess there ain't too many average conservatives anymore. They've all been replaced by ideological zealots.
