Or, the government did a cost-benefit analysis and is letting the "low damage, guy in a mall with a knife" go while searching for the big one ("thousands"). However, that would mean Government put a dollar value on a life.

This is perhaps the most dangerous aspect of a trump presidency. The most important aspect of a president's job. Without intelligence briefings combined with his apathy, we might not have a commander in chief.

Greatly impactful decisions will be made without care or information. If we don't have a major international incident or constitutional crisis over the next four years, it's going to be a miracle.

In fairness, it's always been completely disingenuous to want to cut social security for new retirees while keeping benefits the same for current ones, when the current ones are the ones who screwed the system (in the aggregate). The social security funding issue related to the baby boomers' retirement has been a known issue for my entire life. The fact that they didn't do anything about it thirty years ago should hurt them at least as much as they want to hurt the rest of us.

Not to say I agree with cutting social security in the first place, but if you're going to cut it, I'm fine with them sharing the pain with everyone.

When I saw your alert I thought you were going to follow with "letting one get through once in a while will also keep the people sensitized to the danger and increase support for continued surveillance." This doesn't even have to be a Flag-level conspiracy. It can be a simple cost-benefit analysis: in order to prevent The Big One (dirty bomb in downtown Manhattan) a few small fry San Bernardinos or Boston Marathons would be useful.

No, still suckers. They live behind an iron curtain. They don't know any facts other than what the Echo Chamber feeds them. They're captives, but they love their captivity. It makes them feel noble. We have a couple here.

The thing that changed for me this election is I ceased to be interested in rescuing them. I'm going to spend my time worrying about the people who know the real facts and are fighting the good fight but are still being taken down with the suckers, and who want to be helped and to help themselves. My patience is finite, and when somebody on this board finally drove home to me that these captives do not want to leave their cave, he convinced me.

Yeah, we're "finished as a party" having won the PV 6 of the last 7 elections... :p

The GOP is at its apex right now. Without literally enacting Nuremberg-like Laws that restrict the franchise to whites only, they are still sitting on a demographic time bomb. And by becoming the incumbent party they just destroyed their entire shtick. They're responsible now, and their policies are going to trigger another depression that could make their 1929 and 2006 depressions look mild.

They're going to do an incredible amount of damage to the economy, reputation, and morale of this country, but the people will in fact do what they always do then: throw them the f-ck out.

The Republicans control everything right now. Most State Houses. Most Governor mansions. The Senate. The House. The Supreme Court.

Dems have nothing. And us telling ourselves we have something is 99% of the ****ing problem.

His understanding of the job is that it's a ceremonial position. He gladhands other statesmen, and makes appearances at press conferences and stuff, and then kicks back and puts his feet up, and whispers to himself, "Mr. President".

The rest of the job is using the presidential connections and information available to him to increase Trump Enterprises' profts.

The work of actually running the country? That's for the people who he hired. The best. They have to be. Cause he hired them.

Repeal also does away with the Medicare/Medicaid savings that were also part of the plan, leaving Medicare in an even more precarious financial position than it currently is.

But for the Republicans, that's not a harmful side affect of their action, that's a desired outcome.

I expect Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and Obamacare to be destroyed over the next 8 years.
I also expect that we will have the most well equipped fighting force in the World.
Oh, and ISIS will still be around as well.

Isn't America grand?
