POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

The "coastal elite" shtick doesn't fly when his state voted for a coastal elite.

That coastal elite put on a trucker cap and talked some "locker room" talk. They bought it. As Kep would say, "Suckers."

And I want the Big Ten to hire competent football officials.

Now you really are in fantasy land. ;) :)

Fox News was running a crawl this morning: "Democrats paying for ignoring working class." It is amazing what you can do once you learn to fake sincerity.

I hate to say it, but they deserve it. They've got eyes and opposable thumbs. They're not slow children. Caveat emptor, b-tches.

Another indignity for Gabbard. She wanted SecDef (I know, I know, stop laughing) but said she'd "settle" for VA as a safety.

My god did she turn a silk purse into a sow's ear. All she needed to do to rise to the top, and I mean top top like Senate and with the eventual return to power major committee chair and Veep buzz, was not royally ratf-ck her own party, and she couldn't even do that.

However, she's lucky she's not getting that anchor, and the VA is the perfect slot for Palin. It's the worst job inside the Beltway because the only time you ever get press it's something viscerally awful: Greatest Generation heroes writhing in pools of their own urine. The job destroyed Eric Shinseki, the most honorable person to serve in government for the last 50 years.

They should take her and Smith, and those two should take the gig. FNC is going to be bending itself into a pretzel over the next four years fellating Trump and turning a blind eye as his administration and the GOP Senate despoil what's left of the white working class. If they stay at Fox they will not be permitted to report on reality. At CNN they can basically write their own ticket.

Plus it would demote Wolf to water boy, and we all need a laugh.

As for Zucker's tastes, I completely understand. ;)

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

And like I said, we've covered more than enough in this thread that that is exactly what their platform did; offer solutions to those issues in a modern economy. It just sounded like too much work to a group of people that thought being born with white skin and getting a high school diploma was enough. Offering up a slightly different strain of heroin may have won more votes, but it wouldn't have helped anybody.
Who reads the platforms? You think a majority of the American public goes out and studies the party platforms?

Clinton, and to a larger extent her party, went wrong in one very deadly way. And what should be embarrassing to them is they should have seen it coming. They got a chance to witness the same mistake made by establishment Republicans just a few months before.

The mistake was making the election (or, in the Republican's case, the nomination) be about Donald Trump. What dominated the news was what a terrible person he was/is, what terrible things he said/tweeted yesterday, what horrible consequences will occur if he is elected and what terrible people those voters are who might support him. That's what HRC and the Democrats spent their time talking about from August to November. Just go back and look at our threads.

When you do that, when you make the election about personalities and not about the issues and their positions on them, you leave it to the voters to try to guess which candidate my pursue policies that will benefit them. All they saw was Washington insider vs. businessman with zero political experience.

This should be chiseled in stone when it comes time to write the story of the election. It's absolute truth.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

Nice headline.

Good lord, the comments run to exegesis:

Mittens, you poor suffering bastard -- you're sitting eye-to-eye with someone who's a f-ckload richer than you, who has not even your fake pious moral compass, who wears his wealth solely for p-ssy and adulation, and who thinks you're a weak useless f-cking slob worthy only of long and public humiliation. And I'm sure in that pic you're saying that if God saved Daniel in the lion's den then he'll lift you out of this sh-thole too, but guess what -- there's no god, the lion's gonna play with you like a cat with a mouse paralyzed with fear, and if Trump parades around tomorrow morning in a ball gown made of your skin, it will bring me at least a moment of happiness that might help me through the horror show that I and the rest of the non-overprivileged are going to have deal with for the next four years. Enjoy hell, you arrogant little sh-t.

Mitt's no fool. Maybe people forget the first thing the King did after Daniel survived the night in the lion's den:

And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den. -- Dan 6:24

That's my homey OT God right here! And I can absolutely imagine Trump doing the same.

Correct about nobody reading platforms, white papers, and all that. However, I don't think its on Clinton that the public didn't have at least a scintilla of interest in policy proposals actually making basic sense. Regarding Trump, they didn't say anything about him that wasn't actually true. The problem is lazy Dems couldn't be bothered to come out and vote. For all Trump's appeal to the working class, he still loses that election if the Obama voters show up in the same amounts as 2012. Dem voters did this to themselves.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

If you would like to wager on who he voted for I am sure there are plenty of us that would love to take you up on it ;)

Meh... being a dick probably isn't the exclusive club you'd wish it to be.

But for reference Krauthammer said roughly that to understand American politics you must first understand that all Libs think all cons are evil. And all Cons think all Libs are stupid. Which is just something I have thought about from time to time while following this thread.

This just struck me as a step further on the former part that I hadn't thought about; i.e. that not only are all Conservatives Evil, but if one is Evil, they must by necessity also be a Conservative.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

The modern economy hasn't reached the rural areas.

Clearly. We just don't need many coal miners, farriers, and apothecaries anymore. Change happens whether they like it not. If they don't like what is going on, maybe it's time for them to start doing the reaching.

What is high speed internet going to do for them? The same thing electricity did for them 80-100 years ago. Combine it with better public education(back then: high school education, now: add Pre-K and college), stronger unions(back then: manufacturing, now: service sector), and stronger control of the ultra-rich (back then: trust-busting, now: a return to pre-trickle down tax rates) and they'll be competing on a level playing field.

That coastal elite put on a trucker cap and talked some "locker room" talk. They bought it. As Kep would say, "Suckers."

1. "They". Sure.

2. You and Hovey keep practicing what I like to call Tinkerbell politics where you seem to think that if enough people believe really hard, it can make something true. There's no magical tipping point of popular opinion where a bad idea transform into a good one. We've been through this before, and not that long ago. You can't wish those WMDs into Saddam's garage no matter how you try.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

We are gradually approaching a post-work economy and that is going to be a bigger philosophical leap than even industrialization was. We still have social and moral codes that are tied up with the idea of work as the mark of deserving. Nobody alive right now can wrap their mind around what human cultural mores will be like when people are no longer forced to do stuff they don't want to do in order to eat. We just don't have those ideas yet, much like herders couldn't comprehend farmers and farmers couldn't comprehend factory workers.

We may see "work" -- in the sense of coercion at the point of misery -- end in our lifetimes. Our grandchildren will look at us like we look at serfs.

I generally agree, but I think it's going to take a lot longer than you suggest. But ideally, the conservative party in our country would be arguing for a UBI rather than all our messy social programs. Emailz! set us a long way back in that regard. I also think it is going to take more than a few generations of evolution before our society as a whole has the intellectual curiosity to sustain that. Our forced brushes with not working just brought about heroin/Trump, which isn't good for anybody.

We're a long ways from the finish line on that one and there's a lot of work needed to be done until then.

And he didn't flip them based on personal eccentricity -- he flipped them based on tribal identity so the trials weren't independent. That's where the statistical models failed. They assumed that if you had a 25% chance of flipping one guy then you only had a 7% chance of flipping two. In the event, it may have been a 25% chance of flipping the first guy but if you did then his brother, son, cousin, grocer, and bail bondsman all came with him.

It's ironic that after decades of whining about "identity politics" the GOP pulled this off purely on identity politics. :p

Nate Silver explicitly noted this, which is one reason he was more bullish on Trump than the others. His model assumes similar states will move similarly.

And if and when Democrats do the same thing, you call it condescending, and whine about how they look down upon the flyover states.

But Trump, he was a man of the people, speaking to their economic anxiety fears.

I've been to a few. They're part of the supply chain, they're not mixing the **** in the back room.

I actually didn't realize they don't employ actual pharmacists for compounding. Most apothecaries do. The general point was that pharmacology is a segment of the economy that is still growing by leaps and bounds. Unlike farriers. :)
(Perhaps I shouldn't say most, I'm not sure about WalMart either, but anyplace where you can get hormone replacement, etc. has a pharmacist in back doing actual compounding i.e. clinics etc)

I think Hillary lost on charisma, because her grassroots campaigning paled in comparison with that of Obama and quite possibly even that of Trump, because a lot of people wanted to be rid of Bush/Clinton (case in point only an insane person would find any other reason to vote for Trump over Jeb), The FBI intrusion, "basket of deplorables", on the fringe voters that were leaning Hillary believed the polls and stayed home, and the media did a huge disservice with their lack of coverage of the real issues. Additionally her campaign failed by constantly attacking Trump's legitimacy, too much time was focused on Grab-gate, I really didn't like her for at least part of if not most of the last two debates, etc. I honestly think Conway (Parise I hate saying this) and company out-foxed them.

No, Democrats used to be the guys that wore those actual < farm machinery, seed brand, union local > hats, and then moved on to Washington to represent the "little guy". The closest thing I see to that anymore out of the Ds is MN 7th Collin Peterson.

Today a hat is a prop to a D, just like a hat was a prop to Trump. The difference? Trump had the right "sound" while wearing it. Trump preached what the old, pro-union (or pro ND FU person, and that is real) D in the hat would've, and that "message" is best summed up by South Park as: "Dey tuuk ur jeeeerrrrbs!"
