Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

How many States require their electors to follow the State vote?
More specifically, what is the total number of electors from those "require" States?

And, isn't the EC winner based on getting a plurality (not majority) of votes cast in the EC?

No, you need 270 votes, otherwise it goes to Congress.

I don't understand the laws that force electors to vote for the candidate who won the state. As much as the electoral college is lauded as "the founding fathers knowing what they were doing", the electoral college was set up to overturn the results of the public, if needed.

IINM they date from the two "progressive" revolutions -- 1890s and 1960s -- and the idea was to prevent party hacks in smoke-filled rooms from ignoring the will of The People.

OTOH, the Founders' whole idea was that The People would, eventually, get rooked by some flim flam man, and then the adults in the room would have to step in.

Now granted the Founders were probably thinking of protecting the Republic from radical revolutionary insanity like an income tax or women voting or the darkies being allowed on the street in daylight, so they didn't exactly have the best motives. But... it's there and it's Constitutional, and Trump is exactly the type of demagogic f-ckwit that is an existential threat to America or, given our arsenal, the planet. So hey, let's water the tree of liberty with a little outside the box thinking and stage an EC coup.

It would be especially funny to install an establishment Republican. If you thought we were butthurt by 11/8, just wait till 12/20 after that. :p Be worth it just for the comedy.

So, you know how Trump ran against rich, Ivy educated elitists because they hang out together and give each other things when we're not looking? Well it turns out that rich, crazy morons also hang out together and give each other things when we're not looking.

The 68-year-old co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. began publicly supporting Trump when she became a top donor to the president-elect throughout the fall, giving $6 million to a pro-Trump super PAC run by Florida Gov. Rick Scott.

Wouldn't that be something like, oh, I don't know, what do you call it.............................'Pay for Play'?

The irony is the same schmoes who voted for Trump will be hurt the most, just the like schmoes who voted for Reagan were hurt most by his regressive taxation. The rich will be able to move away from areas that are economically (or even physically) devastated by climate change (and eventually will get off the planet entirely). The high education / high skill liberals will likewise be mobile and informed of the problems as they tumble out of the right wing dystopian future, and that will help us do mitigation in our immediate environment. The impoverished Useful Idiots of movement conservatism will be Left Behind in the smoldering ruin of the planet.

They have opposable thumbs. They could have figured it out. But as someone here convinced me, they have other priorities.

Basically - Inner Party / Outer Party / Proles

That's the way the world goes 'round.

Yeah, I highly doubt the founding fathers ever would have imagined a presidential candidate writing messages at three in the morning on a "book" that would be instantly available to all citizens about watching a moving picture of a naked woman in a contest of beauty that he used to own in regards to his opponent saying he mistreated said woman.

In regards to your third paragraph, they get a pretty good rep for many being slaveholders who didn't want blacks, woman, or even certain kinds of white people to vote, and even then they had to be property owners.

Another argument I hear for the EC is that it protects the rural folk and that the founding fathers had this in mind. According to the census in 1790, 95% of the nation was rural. It is now 75% urban. It's been awhile since civics and social studies, so I don't know the urban/rural split on property owning back in 1790, but I gotta feel that if anything it's empowering rural voters versus "protecting" more than ever.

Stolen from comments
And to think Rod Blagojevich is currently doing 14 years in the federal Pen just for calling a senate seat “****ing Golden.”

As well they should. Trump voters should take it in the shorts as well as any idiot who voted 3rd party (unless you truly believe in libertarianism which is like 1M people out of 300M in the country). Heard Sessions is going to crack down on legal weed as AG. Good. Sticks it to sanctimonious young 'uns who were too cool to vote for a major party. Looks like that joint WILL get you time after all! :D

Jesus, even after falsely claiming an easy victory for 18 months you find a way to be sanctimonious.

In other news, Newt Gingrich glorifies the Japanese on Pearl Harbor Day. Imagine the outcry if someone were to talk about how strategic the 9/11 hijackers were in their planning.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

You know that Hillary would have lost even if they gave 3rd party to her, right?

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

OK AG Scott Pruitt, big oil ball-licker and climate change denier, to head the EPA.

Quelle surprise.

Excellent!!!

You know, for years they've been laughing at me for leveraging a fortune into worthless Florida swampland... Well,

WHO'S LAUGHING NOW B1TCHES!!!

Key West being completely under water makes me sad.

Re: POTUS Elect Trump I: Get in pu$$y - we're gonna make American great again

Not just under, but 20 feet under.

Still, gonna be a buyer's market in rooftop private tropical island paradises, though.
