Well I broke down and added chuck to the block list. I like a good, spirited argument, but he just brings absolutely nothing of value to the table. Links to the Babylon Bee and unfunny, ham-fisted cartoons are not debate.

Aren’t those two things really one and the same?

I can't believe he gave them $6B of taxpayer money. Mostly because, you know, he didn't.

Whatever gets you through the night, sugar. You be you. It's all just a weird, unfortunate coincidence, that's all.

As an aside ... when I read on here about the disconnect in the debate between right and left, it's hilarious when you realize some folks on here honestly believe they're in search of the MacNeil/Lehrer Report or something. If the Faculty Lounge was a boat, it would capsize to the portside every time it took to the shallowest of waters, the leftward lean is so heavy. Yet you all crave to be taken seriously ... when all you truly deserve most of the time is cartoons.

And the irony of these folks who crave "serious" debate, while stroking deeply and thoughtfully on your Lefty goatees, is the second you don't agree with or debate on their acceptable terms ... off you go to an Ignore list. How open-minded! I mean, it doesn't bother me, it's not lost on me that most of you (purportedly) won't ever read this, and that's fine. I'll live, and continue to mock your pretentions of seriousness as I see fit.

But by all means, do continue to mock Drew, someone who at least initially (and may still) come from your side of the political aisle, because it shows just how tolerant and open minded most of you are (not). For sure, it keeps the many spineless jellyfish sheeple on here in check, lest they start to think for themselves, and stray from the Woke elitist dogma that passes for this bizzaro-world secular religion in these here parts.

Run away when called out on lies.

Run? I think he Tommy Tuberville'd his way out.

So for a while now I’ve been posting about the cost and demand of cruising- some numbers: Dec 2023 prices are up 30% over ‘22 and 40% over ‘19. Yes, 40% over pre pandemic. And ships are full. There are a lot of people out there with money to burn.

To give you scale, there are about 1M passengers at once. So for December, ~30M passenger days. That is worldwide. This time of the season, well over 50% is the US. With short cruises factored in, at least 10M American going on a more expensive cruise in December. Willingly.

The economy seems rather strong.

"Revenge travel" still seems like it's very much a thing. My wife and I just spent a long weekend in New Orleans for our anniversary and both DTW and MSY were quite busy.

Sure does, but the natural other side will claim stimulus travel, when that money ran out a long time ago, let alone not enough to cover travel expenses.

The economy is really cooking to support the kind of revenge travel we are seeing.

Good time of year for Nola, weather-wize. Halloween is unique there, but you probably intended to avoid that. I'll bet it was nice for an anniversary.

Mike Pence demands you do things you already did: https://www.thenewcivilrightsmoveme...r-heard-critics-blast-pences-attack-on-biden/

Pence, who has never served in the U.S. Armed Forces, declared, “I don’t know why @JoeBiden is doing press conferences in the Rose Garden talking about something other than America’s role as leader of the free world. If I was President of the United States, I’d have the team in the Situation Room and direct the Joint Special Operations Command to stand up special forces and have them immediately be prepared to deploy into Gaza.”

...

James LaPorta, The Messenger’s national security and military reporter responded to Pence, saying: “There’s already a JSOC [Joint Special Operations Command] unit on standby, I reported on this yesterday.” He pointed Pence to his article, titled, “US Sends Hostage Rescue Experts to Israel and Puts Special Ops ‘Door Kickers’ on Alert.”

And lest we forget how that $6B got there: https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-oil-waiver-iran-hamas-israel-1833864

However, the frozen $6 billion had originated in a decision made by Donald Trump during his time in the White House.

In 2018, Trump granted eight countries, including South Korea, a waiver that allowed them to continue purchasing oil from Iran even after the U.S. imposed sanctions on the Gulf nation after Trump abandoned the Iran nuclear deal as he took a much tougher line against Tehran than predecessor Barack Obama.
