Read earlier today how Schumer has been pushing for no witnesses behind the scenes.

Do these people have no idea how the game is played? Put everyone involved on trial by the public. Get that dude to tell them what he was plotting with Mo Brooks and the rest. Call all those people who met with Don Jr and the rest of the crew at the Trump Hotel in DC the night before Jan 6. Tubervuille was there, ask him what they were talking about. Lots of other people involved who might not be such brazen liars as Trump and his allies and family.

Jesus Christ. Make this so unpalatable that none of these people dare show their face in public again. And then make all these Republicans vote to not hold Trump accountable for his treason.
 
The purpose of the trial, since the Nazis won't acknowledge reality and convict, is to get them all on record acquitting. As the years pass, Dump's crimes will be exposed and all those guys who buried the investigation will go down in history as fellow travelers and enablers of a fascist criminal.

It's not much and it doesn't bring any victim solace, but it's all we can do.

Get it over with in a couple days and then get to work completely repealing all conservative rule of the last fifty years.

That list of names is fucking useless unless you force the general public that it’s a bad thing. No witnesses just makes it look like a nothingburger. This is dumb, even for Schumer.
 
What are witnesses going to do though? Not one GOP Senator will care (outside of Romney) and not one GOP voter will either. The rest of us know the truth so we won't be swayed. It is kabuki theater at this point which is why Kaine and a few others were pushing for censure. Trump already got away with it no witness will change that unless he literally said "destroy the Capitol and kill Pence and Pelosi".

Its more than Schumer...the die was cast as soon as the GOP voted in lockstep to not even have the trial. This whole thing is as rigged as the Breonna Taylor grand jury. This is what happens when half of Congress doesn't care about governing or right and wrong.

Personally I would rather have a ton of witnesses but it wouldn't change one thing about any of this. Too many people just don't care.

It won't change the outcome but I'd still prefer to get the events and facts on record, and force "the accused" to either tell the truth or perjure themselves.

Yep. It all needs to be out in public, people need to hear exactly what these people were conspiring at.

Who knows what Trump might have told people at that meeting in his hotel. Maybe he did tell them to kill Pence and Pelosi. We need to know this, whatever it was.

Witnesses will mean their testimony is included in the record of the trial.

Think of this as a trial where some of the jurors have been paid off. You still present the evidence. You still run the trial legitimately. Sure, the verdict is pre-ordained because of corruption, but you still run a judicial procedure, you don't just throw up your hands.

What record? You guys are acting like the world doesn't already have all the evidence. We all know...the "record" doesn't matter. The record has been written because we watched it, for months, until the 6th. This is not shining the light on new information, all we are going to hear is exactly what we already know. (or lies...which we already know) No one in the future is going to look at it and think "man who would have thought" because all they have to do is watch one of a million videos, read a billion articles or tweets. This isn't the Kennedy Assassination we all know.

And again I want witnesses by the boatload and they can still happen. But they won't change the present and short of them leading to Senators or Reps being thrown out (not likely) they wont have much of an effect on the future either. This trial won't even be a step towards waking the GOP and their sycophants out of their fever dream...especially when Trump walks. In fact it likely will make things worse.

If you guys want witnesses don't grouse about Schumer, write the House Managers they decide and as of yet they haven't decided.

We are going to hear so many absurd excuses to give Trump a free pass over the next week or so. It’s hard to believe one of our two main parties openly supports mob violence to overthrow democracy and killing thousands of people in a pandemic every day.
