POTUS 45.60: He's Such A Delicate Boy and a Hysterical Man

So you are up for increasing your taxes? That's what it will take. All of the tax cuts that were not needed for people who don't need them has resulted in states who can barely fund themselves, and it will take some serious people to convince the voters to increase the taxes back so that real services can happen. More if you want real engineering.

Everyone who really wants healthcare for all understand that we all need higher taxes. Just like everyone who wants better roads, or better public options for transport, or better lane usage needs higher taxes to pay for it.
This. This times one thousand. This forever and ever.

Taxes must be raised to cover this. Enough corporate handouts. Fourty years of wishing in one hand for trickle down to work, and sh*tting in the other has left one hand buried in a pile of dung the size of the pile in Jurassic Park.

Is "high brow" the new buzzword around here? I got accused of that yesterday.

I think that is the first time I ever used it...if it is a buzz word I dont hear it much but I will keep an eye out for it. I chose it cause it fits Drew and his idiocy ;)

My dad spun into a rant last night that made my mom and I angry. He hates dump, but thinks Liz and Bernie are “a holes” because they want to give people everything for free, while he had to work hard his whole life for it.”

I’m pretty depressed my father has swallowed the lies his entire life.

YES! I’m a million percent on board with putting more money towards it. I’m also completely supportive of making public transportation free or significantly cheaper. They should double the gas tax and also increase the state income tax if they have to.

get ride of these stupid pensions for state hacks (transit workers, cops, teachers) and let them live off social security. most of your fares go to funding retirement now.

no more caps on fica taxes, and all income is income. all of a sudden we have more than enough dough to fund national retirement :)

It goes to funding retirement cause they ****ed the union over on wages by applying it to retirement as part of the salary agreement. Now you want to steal more money from them? **** that ****.

Someday, instead of blaming Democrats as being Republicans, you might actually listen to what they say, and have an epiphany. You are a Democrat, at least in what you say you want.

This is exactly what D's have been saying, and complaining about since Reagan. Just listen to what they have to say, and understand that it comes with a tax hike. This is exactly what you want.

Stop blaming pensions. They were part of the compensation package to get people to be hired into jobs where the day to day compensation was not as good as other places.

But the rest of your post is spot on. Just stop capping FICA and treat ALL income equally- that would generate trillions. For the Federal Government, at least.

The states just need to raise their income taxes to where they used to be and stop using the lottery. 6% in Michigan would go a long way to fix all of our problems. Then support all things equally instead of biasing local taxes.

The democrats have complete control of the state and yet we have a third world transportation system. That was the original point.

How were they ****ed over on wages? Fantasy land to think one works 20yrs (Or 30 or 40) and retires at 80% or some nut of salary. That’s why fares go to cover pensions and not the tracks or trolleys or trains.

Idea made sense when people died at age 60. :p
Not so much anymore

It's all because the Republicans made them believe they could have everything without taxes and rich people who go rich would be raining money down to them. In other words a plurality of the electorate are complete ****ing morons.

They didn't get paid what they were worth while they were working. They took less pay for the pension plan. Get it now? It happened to my father. And now they're ****ing him over by reducing his pension every ****ing year.

People were made to take jobs as teachers and cops and toll takers cause Burger King paid more?!? :)

Pensions are archaic and need to be replaced with national retirement. Nobody except public hacks nowadays get pensions, cause their time has gone. Healthcare is too good (;)) and peeps live too long.

And states need to get out of the income tax game. Use property taxes and sales tax. Leave income tax to the feds (mookie’s well publicized plan!) and encourage retail spending. If it goes off as planned feds will have surpluses that can be returned to states to supplement their intake.

Everyone thinks they are worth more..... but the fact you left some on the table just shows you got what you deserved :)

Scooby sr got his pension when he was scheduled to die at a reasonable age. If you have to pick one now, which is it?? Life or $$$$? Neither is bottomless

Fun fact. The Mass state leg has been majority Democratic since 1955; 64 years.

The Mass state leg was majority Republican 1858 - 1948; 90 years.
