So, um, wouldn't that mean the Fed does know what they're doing? Keeping/raising rates to a meaningful level and getting decent numbers as a result. It's almost like they're goal, and I'm completely guessing at this, is to keep unemployment and inflation in check in tandem?!

But I'm sure they gave the 19th century generals who handed out smallpox blankets ribbons, too. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I read a good book on Saturday called ‘The 2020 Commssion Report’ which was critical and unflattering of Trump without being nasty or going into conspiracy theories. The book is honestly kind of scary, but very informative and probably more realistic than we would like.

Not really my kind of thing. Reminds me very much of this. It had a nice James Dunnigan feel to it; it bored me but I think you might get a lot more out of it.

BTW if you are interested in books about war potentials I highly recommend this. It is obviously VERY dated (1985) because it talks extensively about the warmaking capabilities of nations and non-state actors at that time, but it's one of the most fascinating books I've ever read, and even though the players and weapons have changed it's a textbook example of how to write about military doctrine and preparation.

I have that book, The Third World War, bought it probably when it first came out, and never have got around to reading it.
