POTUS 45:53: I Didn't Appoint That Judge So It Doesn't Matter.

Does it have to effect you personally for it to be a problem?

Like all those Republicans who don't give a crap about healthcare or gay rights until their kid comes out, or is born with Down's syndrome.

It is a problem...but it is "their" problem. That's how people think.
People care about issues when it affects them.

So I'll ask you the same question I posed earlier. Name me, in your opinion, the last true rufus approved progressive who's won a Presidential election. Here's a hint - if you have to go back to the first half of the previous century, is it *possible* that what you're advocating doesn't win elections?

And I'll say to you, this ain't the previous century anymore. Hell, this ain't the 2000's anymore. Things change, issues are different. Need different solutions, different ways of thinking.

As your broker would say, past results are not indicative of the future.

Re: POTUS 45:53: I Didn't Appoint That Judge So It Doesn't Matter.

The last hour on this thread is the most depressed I've been since Dump won.

If people who call themselves Dems don't understand what has been happening in this country the last 2 generations what is there to do but drink and pray?

Then F off. You're useless if you create your own reality and then mope around all day when it doesn't come true. I keep asking you/trix/rufus/etc to name me the last progressive President that you approve of, and none of you can name one. If you're on that long of a losing streak, why should any voter trust you to create a winning message next year? Geesh - point me to some successes on your part. Is that so hard???

So basically you're saying you'd go to a job interview and state that you've failed at everything you've tried to achieve for as long as you can remember, but past results don't matter so you can trust me to succeed this time. Do you think that'd work?

"3rd way reforms worked in the 90's and so they'll work forever", I tell myself as I'm taken to Guantanamo.

And lol at the dis-ingenuousness of the question, the boomer generation had completely warped priorities that have led us where we are today. Of course there weren't many progressive presidents (after FDR) before I could even vote lmfao.

Wouldn't THAT be nice! (for the rest of us anyway)

Name me one, in the trix approved mold. We all agree on FDR and the whininess of boomers. Now show me all of the trix approved progressives who've won for President or even in a swing state for Gov or Senate (hint: AOC doesn't represent a swing district :D).

That's easy. Sherrod Brown.

Well if I set up the parameters exactly in this way and shift the goal posts here then I win! - Rover

edit: Kara Eastman lost by like 1% in Nebraska but that doesn't count despite the fact that she got zero help from the dem party (that totally cares about winning  ). Abrams lost in GA by a few thousand votes after the incumbent oversaw his own election. AOC took out Joe ****ing Crowley lmao, but that doesn't count because the goal posts are here now.

Maybe Hillary should run again.

I'll bring this home for you. If democratic socialism is the new thing that's cool. But, before I enlist I'd like to see what kind of generals are running the war effort. Right now your track record is that of the French commanding troops to climb barbed wire and cross an open field to charge a machine gun nest during WWI. Why don't you bank a few victories first to build a bit more confidence with the poor slobs in the trenches?

EDIT: So AOC represents a swing district? Talk about moving the goalposts. I think you just blew them up with dynamite. :D

What’s going on here? Maybe I’ll stick to abortion thread for awhile!

Re: POTUS 45:53: I Didn't Appoint That Judge So It Doesn't Matter.

More small c conservative then W or Dump. By a wide margin.

So you think trashing Barack Obama's Presidency is the way to win the Democratic nomination. Okay....

You comin' on to me?

Ain't nobody coming onto you Kep. Although if you dressed like Karl Marx you might have half a shot with rufus...;)

How is that trashing it? Being small c conservative is not a negative. In anything.

The history of liberalism is: to be regarded with horror until our programs work after which the tepid centrists rush in to take belated credit. You'll love Single Payer someday after trying to fight us tooth and nail on it.

We win by dragging you cowards to the left far enough that people vote for us. When you resist successfully you wind up running a flaccid centrist and people HATE them and they lose. Bill Clinton was your one great success since the 1920s -- somebody right of center of the Democratic movement who won because of his charisma. The other successful Democratic presidents: FDR, Kennedy, Obama, were ours and ran on giving people aspirations rather than the same old stale porridge. Another conservdem, Carter, lucked into a cycle of pure anti-GOP hatred but immediately dropped the ball and ushered in Reagan's Armageddon.

We win the elections and you take the credit. Twas ever thus.
