Liberalism may encourage generosity and intelligence but lets not pretend that people havent used evil means by which to get those and that power hungry people, in the name of liberalism, havent seized power and used it for bad. Liberalism is as corruptible as anything because greed still wins. Giving everyone what they need is much easier to swallow when A) you have more than you need and B) you are the one giving it to them.

Greed wins... until it doesn't. There's no such thing as human nature, there's just what people decide to get up to today, and tomorrow, and the day after that. It's choices. You can be a sh-t or an angel or something in between. It's up to you, full stop, repeat for 10 billion.

The 20th century proved if we treat people like animals most of them will act like animals. That's not teleological, it's physics.

You know who's had some victories throughout history? Nazis. Maybe you should just join them seeing as they meet your moronic criteria.

The Nazi's won at the ballot box? IIRC my history lessons they never won more than like 40% of the vote in a fair election before they seized total power.

Remember when we werent going to act this way anymore...good times. this thread is the perfect example of the stupidity of the Democratic Party. Can't even keep their eyes on the prize for a couple of days before they start demonizing each other.

And Kepler dont try and pretend that isnt what is happening here. (and other places) The Litmus Test everyone aabhors is on full display which is why in the hour I was gone like 5 pages popped up all of Democrats ****ing on each other. This is why we are losers because we care more about proving ourselves right to each other than to the nation. The Democrats are s pecial kind of stupid...the kind that wants to discuss everything to death. They are victims of Paralysis By Analysis. We are Chidi from The Good Place...pouring over whether to take a left turn or right when in reality both will get us where we need to be.

Following up on Kep's comments, its all good with me because I would vote Scooby enthusiastically before I sat home and let Chump get re-elected without my opposition. My issue isn't with what the true progressive du jour may or may not do once in office. All of the major ones running are sane. My issue is winning the election. I'd feel better if democratic socialism had a better track record of electoral victories. The good news is the voters will decide, and whoever they choose in their wisdom has my full support and I won't resort to conspiracy theories if Warren doesn't get the nod.

Regulation is what makes Capitalism the greatest system on the Earth. You have good regulation with enforcement it works. You have poor regulations and a lack of enforcement it doesn't work. Right now we have a combination of no regulation and no enforcement. Thus, we have a terrible system.

An anti-establishment candidate just won on overturning our political system that mostly caters to crony capitalism and Rube's brilliant strategy is to get a mostly establishment friendly centrist who more or less runs on doing nothing. Gee I wonder why...

Um, no. I simply am hoping for someone not so extreme as Bernie. That's why I like Amy K (for now; lotta things can change between now and then). Not a huge fan of hers, but I think she can get the pendulum back to the middle and actually get stuff done.

And who cares what Trump says besides the MAGAs? They are lost anyways. What I *actually* said was the media will label someone a socialist, correctly or not, and some of the middle will cling to that as truth, or flock to it as truth, and vote that way.

Some of you are hoping for an uber-extreme lefty, because that will get everything you want. However, that particular candidate increases the chances of the Dems losing, and then you get nothing.

My whole point is to concentrate on nominating someone who will win the Presidency, THEN start working on getting what everyone wants.
