long time ago job mookie worked with a viet dude who pronouced spaghetti as spag-guht-hee. mookie liked that and throws it in play now and again

To be fair, though, how else would you pronounce a word that is spelled a-l-u-m-i-n-i-u-m (which is how most of the English-speaking world spells it)?

not saying they wrong :D

For some reason the letter 'l' is difficult in North Asia. I used to think this was a bad/racist stereotype, until I visited Seoul and the letter 'l' in my last name was pronounced like an 'r' 95% of the time.

The top-rated reply here is interesting.

The redeye to Europe is great. It’s literally the only way to fly to Europe.

It's virtually unavoidable, unless you're a rich biz flyer on one of those 8am Virgin flights from BOS or JFK to LHR. That doesn't make it "great", more like a necessary evil.

I wish I could sleep on planes...flying to Capetown in August is gonna be hell for me in that regard.

Agreed. I had to take a 3:30 flight out of MSP to Amsterdam instead of the usual red eye so I could get to Finland early enough.
I was messed up that entire 7 day trip.

13.5 to Seoul in DL Premium Select. 12.5 back in C+. Not one wink of sleep on either flight.

5.5 hours SFO-BOS last October in domestic Delta One. I put the seat into lie-flat mode, and slept maybe an hour at best.

7 from JFK-Frankfurt last month, in lie-flat biz class. I managed a 2-3 hour nap, but that's not proper sleep.

I know I'm an "av geek" and get overly excited about being on a plane, but I still don't understand how people manage to sleep on airplanes. Especially in steerage.

one of the many great things here is a ton of red eye flights. every time mookie goes to bangkok it is overnight and can hit the ground running. so middle june will work wednesday and fly out after work. spend two nights there and only miss one day of work (weekends are fri/sat). middle july doing the same with hong kong but will spend 3 nights and take just one day off. flight back lands in amman early and the connection is later on, so mookie has 13hrs to leave the airport and go see the city.
convenient schedule as well going west

Mookie heading to the Far East for his fun time. What a surprise.

last 3x mookie has been in first class emirates, he didn't even shower. was asleep as soon as we lifted so i could drop the seat into flatbed... then was awaken by the stew (or dude stew) as we were almost on the ground. love how they let you go as long as possible :D did the shower once. fun to say you've done it of course, but almost like eating at primanti brothers :p once is good

Re: POTUS 45:52: Not Founded On Anything

I get about 6 weeks PTO at my job, can carry over 1 week per year. Like mookie, lots of 3 and 4 day weekends. I like it like that.

I earn 20 hours per month and for every day we work on a local holiday it's +1 additional day. Unused hours up to 160 are paid out (taxable of course) in February the following year.

I did a direct flight to Egypt years ago...maybe half an hour. Paris last year...not even close to a wink either way. The girlfriend usually falls asleep a half hour in.

Are you sure you aren’t just boring her?
I kid, I kid!!
