It appears to me he has no plan. Which is very disheartening because I know what Ryan's plans are for everything and they're unworkable disasters. I keep hoping for some new ideas in Washington out of anybody and I just don't hear any. We never solve problems anymore we just move chairs around on the Titanic.

Well, he said he had a plan for ISIS as well, one that was better than anything the generals could come up with, and what did he do a couple weeks ago? Turn it over to the generals, and tell them they had 30 days to come up with something.

He has NO policy ideas, other than Bannon's immigration and Muslim 'purify America' schemes.

In all seriousness, he would be smart to tell the people defending him this stuff before they defend him. All they keep saying is it WONT be a military force or an exaggeration of the powers of the current law enforcement...

You also can't defeat and ideology with force and without something to fill the political power vacuum left by the military defeat if ISIS, you will just have to resort to military force again in the future. Better to let the local leaders gain respect and legitimacy by winning the fight themselves (regardless of the amount of assistance they receive) than to try and occupy and empire build again.

True. What I'm referring to here is not ideology but the apparent land mass that ISIS controls. It boggles me that they still have any land mass at all.

Yep, somehow this is the most relevant thing he can think of to say in a "listening session" with manufacturing CEOs.

Every country in the region is either a failed state or an apartheid state. Without a full-scale professional, planned, logistically-supported invasion ISIS will probably go on existing for a hundred years.

This is like why are there gangs in American cities. We have 11 million times the firepower and manpower to end gangs, but the dislocation and collateral damage just don't justify it, at least to the people making the decisions.

No conspiracy is required. Insufficient ROI.

Also, those maps showing ISIS "control" over large swaths are either silly or just being misunderstood/misrepresented. Nobody "controls" most of that area. ISIS moves into a town, does their little genocide tap dance, and the second they march out that town is once again an Open City. Rinse and repeat with the government forces, or with any of the twelve mutually antagonistic rebel forces.

The control map is just "who last stepped on this lawn." Nobody has any ability to retain control for any length of time without actually occupying the land. It's the US shell game in Anbar all over again.
