Washington (CNN)

Accused Russian spy Maria Butina appears to have reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors.

Butina is accused of trying to infiltrate Republican political circles and party leaders during the 2016 campaign in order to advance Russian interests, and prosecutors have said the former American University student was in touch with politically powerful Russians about her activities in the US.

Her attorneys and prosecutors on Monday filed a two-page request for a "change of plea" hearing as soon as Tuesday.

At this point in time, I'd either say Trump or Mueller, given how close the investigation is ending....

I can't imagine they'd do Trump again. Giving it to him in 2016 when he wins the election is fine, but what has he really done this year?

I also have a hard time giving it to Mueller. If the report had come out, then maybe. He's been this "unseen presence" in the country, but I don't see it until the report comes out.

My guess is the immigrant kids.

Yeah mueller shouldn’t get it this year. Maybe next year

Those are good points.

I do like that Time stresses that the Person Of The Year is "for better or for worse." It doesn't have to be a "good" person to get named.

Yes, he’s right. Her emails!!

“House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy warned Democrats that it would be a mistake to reopen or launch new investigations related to President Trump once the party becomes the House majority, arguing that the country has "other problems."

Well, Hitler was on the cover once. Stalin twice. Khrushchev. Ayatollah Khomeini. Wallis Simpson. Nixon twice.

Disagree although not vehemently. POTY reflects as much as anything name recognition and Mueller ranks up there.

But nothing that’s dropped so far can compare with some of the other nominees. That was my thought.

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

Question. Who told John Kelly that he was fired? Did Trump ask John Kelly to do it?

Since we all know he doesn't have the balls to do it himself.

Re: POTUS 45.44: "That's Not Law" said Trump

Time has named “guardians of the truth” including khasoggi as person of the year.

He’s getting ready to rage tweet I’m sure
