Whoa, whoa, whoa.
I advocate doing whatever it takes to get elected, period. The lesson I've learned from the GOP is that once you disconnect your rhetoric and the consequences of your policies in the voters' minds, you can literally say anything to gain power, then do whatever you were going to do anyway.
So, going forward, I advocate speaking with the audience in mind. When talking to academics use reason and statistics. When talking to the middle class use the fear of the GOP destroying all their popular perks. When talking to poor whites remind them of who has really had their backs through the years with unions, ACA, and social security. When talking to poor blacks and Hispanics remind them who the racist as-sholes are.
Don't expect poor whites to respond to a message created for upper middle class feminists. Forget intersectionality: craft the message to the immediate purpose, period.
