Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

This rings fairly hollow given your history, even recently, of doing the same thing.
And about that, dx, I'll paraphrase President Garfield.

"Of course I deprecate war, but if it is brought to my door the bringer will find me at home."

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

You misspelled something in there. You spelled it "loss leader". It's spelled "distraction".
But they have a bonus; they have the ultimate distracter running point for them at 1600 Penn.

I don't know if you can label the amount of collatoral damage that Trump is doing to our system of democracy, and American standing around the world as simply a "distraction". It's a lot more serious than that.

You mean the Republicans that are backpedaling faster than a DB across from Cliff Branch on a fly route*.

The Congressional Rs are already saying they aren't ready with a replacement for Obamacare and are not going to act on tax cuts for a while. That's not going along with Trump.

Somebody pass the popcorn; it's gonna get good.

*An old school reference there for everyone. Look it up. ;)

16 of the 17 GOP senators from blue or purple states have voted for Trump 100% of the time so far (Snowe's vote against DeVos is the outlier).

Small sample size, sure, but they aren't running away from him thus far.

Think about that...Michelle plants a garden and wants kids to get exercise and not eat crap all the time and she is an authoritarian gorilla out to restrict freedoms! Trump threatens Sherrifs and Federal Judges and his party restricts speech (and votes) and nary a word..

It's all the same thing. Government trampling upon the individual. Both parties do it.

Collins. Surprised she actually had the sack to follow through on that.

The Republicans from Minnesota are no different than those from other states - i.e., Emmer - and I have no doubt would vote with Trump just because.

Emmer would sell the country to Mexico if it protected the Republican party. He's one of the worst. Jason Lewis is just a dyed-in-the-wool, entitled, white libertarian who caucuses with the GOP. He wants there to be just enough regulations to protect his.

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

On a more equal basis- the current FLOTUS whines and complains and then SUES over people saying bad things about her- since it will cost her money. Geezus.

For that comparison, trying to say that President Obama so much over stretched his bounds on EO when he accepted when state courts took issue whit them when don just goes out and attacks the same judges for doing the same thing- that just kills me.

The GOP are cynical hypocrites. This hasn't been news since Lee Atwater was duckwalking with B. B. King.

Way to exercise your duty, as an American, to audit the leadership of ALL of our elected representatives, regardless of your support for either the person or the party.

Let me guess: this poll is REAL whereas all the other polls showing Trump in the toilet on credibility and approval are FAKE because of... what methodological discriminator, exactly?

My Heart Bleeds For You...Not!

So farmers vote for Trump and now they fear that the guy who insults Mexicans all day long and wants to deport everyone is going to hurt their business with his immigration policies. Suck it up snowflake and reap the whirlwind.

Glad I'm not a big eater of vegetables since I probably won't be able to afford them soon!!

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

As for his promises about cracking down on illegal immigrants, many assumed Mr. Trump’s pledges were mostly just talk.

Oh, for...

The ability of people to delude themselves is never-ending. So you have a candidate with two major policies, x and y. You love x but you hate y. So you vote for him for x and assume he's "just talk" about y? But if he can be "just talk" then why won't be be just talk about both x and y? And if he's selectively just talk, why aren't you worried that he'll be just talk about x and serious on y, making him your literal worst nightmare?

The f-ck, people, the truth tables on these propositions just aren't that difficult.

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

I thought CA voted Clinton. The central CA farmers must've been the exception.

The Central Valley in CA is deep, deep red. They just get swamped by the megalopolis.

TBH I don't know what that blue band across the very center is. It looks like a district that might go as far west as Hayward / Oakland. (Edit: It's the lovely sh-thole of Fresno, where the War Nerd lives.)

Here are the 2008 and 2012 maps. The 2012 map shows the Central Valley perfectly.

Here
's a nice overlay.

Well there is the Sierra Nevada's. My guess is that some of the blue band is wine country...but seems that should be a bit further north.

Biggest surprise for me was the south. I was under the impression that the desert was red...and you always hear about San Diego bucking the liberal trend out there. Guess not.

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

If only dirt and shrubs voted.

(They do, for Senate.)

Here
's a comparison of different maps. I actually like the "Compromise" one the best, though it doesn't over-emphasize blue the way a simple landmass map does red (for instance, a pinpoint of blue in the NYC SMSA has greater population than 39 of the 50 states. The Compromise and the NPR map both show the actual results the best.
