Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

how did Vermont end up so blue? If it followed the patterns of most other states you would expect Burlington and surrounding areas to be blue and the rest of the state to be red. Compare Vermont with upstate New York, which is mostly red.

Vermont's well educated.

But I'm a bit surprised, too. From friends who have lived in VT they definitely have their share of woodchucks in the sticks.

If only dirt and shrubs voted.

(They do, for Senate.)

Here
's a comparison of different maps. I actually like the "Compromise" one the best, though it doesn't over-emphasize blue the way a simple landmass map does red (for instance, a pinpoint of blue in the NYC SMSA has greater population than 39 of the 50 states. The Compromise and the NPR map both show the actual results the best.

Even Newman's map is not an accurate representation as it underweights the impact of red states. The GOP and red states have been punching way above their weight in the presidential, senate, house which translates over to the SCOTUS and state elections - due to districting.

Fair point.

The answer to the question posed is easy: The Boss saw him on Fox News. "You're hired!"

(The real answer surely involves Breitbart and Bannon. See story.)

It's the Gaffney link.

I have a very close friend Trump voter who is well to the right of Bill Maher on the whole "we should call it fundamentalist Islamic terrorism" thing, and even he thinks Gaffney is a basket case. This guy is a regular on his show. He and Bibi would get along great. Anyway, Trump has met with Gaffney and supports him. In his defense he seems to be a sincerely believing lunatic, rather than just the usual grifting hustler Trump has surrounded himself with.

So farmers vote for Trump and now they fear that the guy who insults Mexicans all day long and wants to deport everyone is going to hurt their business with his immigration policies. Suck it up snowflake and reap the whirlwind.

My business is only illegal. It's not ILLEGAL illegal. C'mon man! You're killing me Smalls!

www.politico.com/story/2017/02/trump-criticize-faa-234849

President Donald Trump slammed the Federal Aviation Administration today and suggested its multibillion-dollar air traffic upgrade is "totally out of whack" — remarks that come amid a debate in Congress on whether to split up the agency and give airlines a role in running the system.

JFC. If there is one agency I want to stay nationally run, it's the FAA. Could you imagine air traffic not being controlled by the feds, where states or airlines make up their own rules about how air traffic is controlled?

He also suggested that a pilot should be put in charge of the FAA, in an apparent dig at Administrator Michael Huerta.

Yes, because the guy running the fry station at McDonald's should run the company.

MNS, any thoughts on this?

I'd say they should go find some good American employees, yet there's one little issue, and it goes back to a story I told a while back about how there was a line at the unemployment office, and a fast food joint with a "Now Hiring" sign nearby: Some people think they're too good for an unskilled manual labor job, even if it's "temp work". It's too bad there isn't much support from the DoL about unskilled manual labor being filled immediately...

Honestly, these farmers should go to the DoL with some job applications and have them mail them to anyone that gets an unemployment check.

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

Donald's largest anti-climate change push back isn't going to be from the neutered EPA, not from a plucky band of park rangers with Twitter, nor is it going to come from scientists all over the globe.

No, no. It comes from the $600 Billion elephant in the room: The Department of Defense.

Here it is, it's started. The, "This isn't what I voted for whining has commenced." Grab some popcorn and a seat. It's only going to get more entertaining from here.

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

Or maybe because they don't base their opposition on partisan pandering.

But Trump has indeed cornered the market on crazy.

Like has been said here many times, I don't know what rank and file GOP were expecting. Trump doesn't have the experience or temperament for governing and that was abundantly clear during the election.

All indications are this will be a second W term. Thankfully the US appears very resilient and adaptable, and so the damage may not be long lasting.
