Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

They say madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Trump was the trying something different. Whether it works or not remains to be seen.

What has Trump done that's so different? So, far, NOTHING. There is not a single new idea in Health Care. In fact they're so devoid of ideas they're delaying the repeal/replace. It was supposed to be fast and good (Trump words).

The Economic ideas are straight out of the Trickle Down Playbook. Not a single new idea there.

The Government ideas are straight "privatize the **** out of everything you can". Which isn't new either.

Bottom line is lying works.

A lot of them will. The readjustment is we stop helping those who won't. F-ck em.

I am still uncomfortable with this approach. I'll often say "**** em", but deep down I'm still not on board with it.

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

And yet these morons will be crying for Ivanka in a decade. A trump dynasty will be just fine with them

I doubt it. Sure, maybe some would. However, I've talked to cab drivers and waiters (my only regular interaction with people that could be considered blue collar workers) who are really, really down on career pols. I remember one guy who said he wished it was like the early days of the country when you served one term in Congress, and then went back home to your main street job.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that there were career pols back then too, but that was his perception.

Look at it this way. If we keep spending all our time trying to teach the white working class economics and geopolitics, we'll never get into a position where we can decide policy. And without our policy they're f-cked anyway.

Get elected. Without that, nothing else matters.

Look at what the 1% accomplished since 1980: despite being outvoted literally 99-1 they've managed to transfer trillions of dollars from the public treasury to their pockets. And what have the other 99% done? Half of them helped with the heist, just because they didn't want blacks or single mothers to have a shot at success.

Those are the people you are stopping all our momentum to help.

I repeat: f-ck em. They can count and add; if they can't figure out what the right has done to them that's their tough luck.

I'm not uncomfortable with this anymore. I got over it.
I do feel bad for kids of trump voters who had no say in the elimination of their healthcare, education, and breathable air though

In all honesty, Trump parents breed Trump children. While some will get out, that black hole sucks. Voltaire talked about "the idiocy of the countryside" in 1750, and described it exactly the same: xenophobic, hyper religious, violent, uneducated, borderline subhuman. If 350 years and 8000 km didn't materially change them, nothing is likely to.

Meanwhile, Trump and Putin appear ready for Ribbentrop II.

Buried down in the AP story is the rather startling news that National Security Advisor Mike Flynn and his aides have been asking the national security agencies for ideas for how to improve relations with Russia and for evidence of "Polish incursions in Belarus."

Of course, it would also help if when you do get elected, you do something other than throw the 99% a half picked over bone and then get all huffy when they don't fall to their knees and pledge their undying loyalty to you.

If that's what you and they believe then even more reason to cut the rope. Enjoy the swim.

Pretty sure you're preaching to the choir in Kepler's case.

Reagan and Dubya showed us what you do: send out the PR guy to keep the crowd happy while the boys in the backroom steal everything not nailed down and then split for the coast.

I suggest we do exactly the same thing. Just redirect the heist from the pockets of the well-connected to the environment and health care and education and retraining and debt relief. And mostly science so we can get off this rock before the orcs finally destroy it. Take a 1% commission just to sweeten the pot. No more Mr. Nice Liberal.

"You're so nice. You're not bad, you're not good, you're just nice.

I'm not good, I'm not nice, I'm just right."

It is what I believe.

You think any Democrats getting elected to Congress or the White House aren't one percenters, or on their way? You think they don't like being one percenters?

There was a song verse from 40 years ago that went, Poor man wanna be rich, Rich man wanna be King, and the King ain't satisfied 'til he rules everything.

That's was true before that song was written. It hasn't changed since. You're telling me that Obama stuck it to the one percenters, to the advantage of the other 99%? Who's the sucker?

Here we go with the false equivalency again. If the Democrats did nothing for the 8 years of Obama that was 5,987,453 times more than the Bush Administration did. Get it now?

The parties are not equal in any way. Period.

I'm not saying they are equivalent in any way. The Republicans will tell you what they are going to do, then do it. They are going to lower taxes, reduce regulation on business and basically give Wall Street free reign.

The Democrats will serve you a bowl of feel good, semi-vague promises, then realize that the people who keep them in power and keep the dough flowing into their pockets are the same one percenters paying off the Republicans, so maybe some of those ideas will have to wait.

We need to use the Bruce Springsteen Deception, a talented and wealthy musician who some people think still works at a New Jersey car wash when he's not on tour.

Although, we have to put the gun control thing on the back burner. If Sandy Hook, where little kids were getting murdered, couldn't get people to wake up, nothing will.

Or, you know, enact policies that prevent mining operations from dumping coal into streams, put a leash on Wall Street with Dodd-Frank, prevent (or slow) companies from inverting and not pay their fair share, move us away from global disaster by regulating carbon emissions, prevent mentally unstable people from obtaining firearms, ensure we have national standards that are upheld to ensure our children are educated, fund science and research.

You know, the things that prevent republicans and corporations from completely raping the landscape.

Re: POTUS 45.3 - Bowling Green Massacre Memorial Thread

You guys have never wondered why the fringe wings of the Republican Party are always fighting with more moderate Republicans over social issues, but the Democratic fringes are always separating from the moderates on economic issues?

Because the republicans are more beholden to their puppetmasters?
