POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

I'll go to my original stance: if the illegals (KEY WORD) were kicked out of the US, then many jobs would be unfulfilled at those wages, and the market would correct itself, and legals (legal immigrants or US-born citizens) would take those jobs because the wages would HAVE to increase, to fill those jobs.

Companies can afford to pay crap wages, because there are some that will take any job they can get (I don't blame 'em, btw) because they are here illegally.

Your fallacy assumes that citizens would immediately and readily take those jobs, instead of there being a gap.

I spent almost 60 nights in hotels last year, and never ran into a single native English speaker cleaning rooms - granted, I didn't spend a night in the Upper Peninsula (that's coming in February). 90% of them were Hispanics from Central/South America, or the Caribbean, and the remaining 10% were North Africans who natively spoke Arabic and/or their country's local language. That doesn't make any of them "illegal", especially at the Minny Hilton and The Marquette, where a handful were definitely FlagDUD88's dreaded SOMALIAN MOOSLIMS!1!11!! with their hijabs and all.

If illegals were kicked out of the country you’d see produce prices skyrocket. There’s a chance you would just not even see some produce in stores. Companies would pay a crop picker a **** wage regardless of whether they’re illegal or not.

It’s also just a dumb thing to do because they contribute to our economy far more than they cost it. They pay some taxes and do the jobs that go unfulfilled regardless of employment. Which is at historical highs. If you kick out illegals now, there would be no one to fill those jobs at all. Not even accounting for the deportation costs, your idea is just ridiculous and unworkable.

There is literally no reason to deport them.

Whoa whoa whoa. I welcome legal immigrants, don't care who they are. If they came here legally, awesome. It's a great country. I ONLY have a problem with illegal immigrants. The terms "illegal immigrants" (sorry, UNDOCUMENTED immigrants) and legal immigrants have been meshed into the same classification, and that isn't right.

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Quoted for the record. That is.....wow.

Quoted to document your utter ignorance. effectively all people here illegally came over on a student visa, worker visa, green card, or some other form of legal travel into the country.

This idea that republicans have that a bunch of criminals are fording the rio grande is a myth.

Hm, visas, green cards, etc, are legal. You said it yourself. And you are narrowing it down to the Rio Grande river crossers? Rather racist, frankly. You have the Eastern Euro sex trade, and even *gasp* some Canadians getting in here, since the northern border doesn't really exist.

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Folks may have overstayed their visas/etc, which would make them ILLEGAL. The point is, they came over here legally. Get it?

I assume everyone working at a major hotel chain is legal (green card, the eeeeeeevil "chain immigration", TPS, DACA, or otherwise). That maybe incorrect, but I always figure that the fallout if a substantial number of them aren't would be yuge and cost as much as hiring those who are legal.

So, paying a living wage, which is what everyone wants. ;)

Do you think they practiced fording by playing Oregon trail first?

Re: POTUS 45:26 - One million tweets DC!

Let's turn the tables: how many came here legally, and how many are here illegally?

Recent studies say about 40-50% of people end up overstaying their visas. Estimates put the total number of illegals here at around 14-20 million, but no one really knows.

Couple that with border crossings at near 50-year lows, the lack of demand for agricultural and service industry jobs by citizens and residents, and the average illegal contributes more to the economy than the average red-stater and you can see we don’t have an issue with your bizarre definition of illegal immigrant.
