You know that a green card means "permanent resident alien" status, yes? Therefore, not illegal. Nor would anyone here on a visa be here illegally.

If they come here on a LEGAL work visa (or equivalent)? Fine. Dandy. They come here illegally, see ya. Get it?

But this makes zero sense in the context of the real world today. The vast majority come over legally and then just stay past their visa or green card expiration date. Maybe 40 years ago the opposite was true. But that’s not the case today.

What do you do with them? Or the Dreamers who only know America?

I'm more interested in dx explaining it. I know the green card rules, but based on dx's statement, I'm wondering if he does - without citing Google, FWIW. I mean, he's the one who thinks a bunch of them are here illegally. :D

It is if they’re conditional. So I suppose you’re right for permanent residents. I’ll amend my previous statement. But none of this matters and is just distracting from the original point that we’re at historic lows for border crossings and highs for people overstaying visas.

The wife once worked in the kitchen for a large corporate luxury retirement home resort err complex, and other than her and three other chefs, the rest of the prep cooks and dishwashers were either using fake socials or had expired visas.

She left that job quickly.

Back in Boston if it wasn’t for the browns the bathrooms would never have gotten a wipe and paper would run dry quickly.

Having managed a fast food restaurant in Phoenix while in college, I'll just say that everyone we hired had a SS# and Birth cert with info that was verified as valid with the Govt. But did I think some guy who spoke 0 words of English was really named Eric Simmons? Who am I to argue ;)
