Speaking of being dumbfounded...did you know according to the GOP reps in Congress Russia's involvement in this election is equal to, or less important than Barack Obama's which should be investigated? Let that nugget sink in...

Precisely why the, "If Obama said that" segment was so brilliant.

Another of Don's hedge fund dingbats has bitten the dust.

Richard Staropoli, the CIO of the Department of Homeland Security appointed by President Donald Trump, has resigned, FedScoop has learned.

Trump appointed Staropoli to the position in April.

News of Staropoli’s resignation comes days after John Kelly, formerly DHS secretary, was appointed White House chief of staff to replace Reince Priebus. At the department, Staropoli reported directly to Kelly.

Staropoli took the position — vacated by Luke McCormack in January and held by Jeanne Etzel in the interim — after serving most recently as managing director and chief information security officer of Fortress Investment Group, a billion-dollar hedge fund in New York City.

Staropoli spoke at FedTalks at Night of his intentions to run DHS’s Office of the CIO like a hedge fund.

Hearing his poll numbers are dropping. He'd still beat Hillary if the election were held today though so it makes no difference.

Yep. Not running the most qualified candidate in 56 years is always the best course.

In those 56 years, it's been increasingly obvious that a qualified and more experienced candidate can be overwhelmed by charisma or attack. Kennedy over Nixon, Reagan over Carter, Clinton over Bush I, Bush II over Gore , Obama over McCain. It happens pretty often.

Correct. High Charisma Score (Trump) beats High Intelligence Score (Clinton) every time. It also reflects what America values. And that's sad.

Yep. Not running the most qualified candidate in 60 years is always the best course.

Hillary was not the most qualified candidate in 60 years. I can think of at least 10 nominees (Nixon ('60, '68, '72), LBJ ('64), HHH ('68), Ford ('76), Carter ('80), Reagan ('84), Mondale ('84), Bush ('88, '92), Clinton ('96), Gore ('00), W ('04), Obama ('12)) with better objective qualifications than Hillary in the past 60 years. Even someone like Bob Dole, John Kerry, or John McCain could argue to have had similar qualifications as Hillary. You could probably also add a handful of others who have run but didn't receive the nomination.

Now, if you want to talk about the biggest disparity in qualification between nominees, then yes, there almost certainly hasn't been as big of a disparity in the last 60 years as there was in 2016.

The real world is the opposite of D&D, where charisma is a dump stat.

Let's narrow it down to first term. She definitely beats most of that list then. Including her husband. John Kerry and John McCain don't come very close.

Unless you're playing a Bard.

If we eliminate Presidents running for re-election, we have: Nixon ('60, '68), HHH ('68), Mondale ('84), Bush ('88), and Gore ('00). I don't believe Hillary was more qualified than any of them.

Hillary: Senator for 8 years, Secretary of State for 4 years.
Nixon: Representative for 4 years, Senator for 2 years, Vice President for 8 years.
HHH: Mayor for 3.5 years, Senator for 16 years, Vice President for 4 years.
Mondale: Attorney General for 4 years, Senator for 12 years, Vice President for 4 years.
H.W. Bush: Representative for 4 years, U.N. Ambassador for 2 years, CIA Director for 1 year, Vice President for 8 years.
Gore: Representative for 8 years, Senator for 8 years, Vice President for 8 years.
-----------------------------------------------------
Kerry: Lieutenant Governor for 2 years, Senator for 20 years.
McCain: Representative for 4 years, Senator for 22 years.

Again, I don't believe Hillary was more qualified than anyone above the dotted line. Both McCain and Kerry had at least 2.5x more experience in the Senate, but didn't have the executive experience that Hillary had. Is 12-14 years in the Senate worth 4 years as Secretary of State? I don't know...I think that's a close call.
