You miss the point entirely.
The GOP leadership doesn't do the stuff they do out of racism and homophobia. They are exactly the same people who are in the Democratic leadership -- they went to the same schools, have the same money, live in the same neighborhoods, send their kids to the same private schools. They're not racists or homophobes, they just play them on TV. They're educated effete tolerant atheist Eloi, just like the people you fight with here on the forum.
They do this stuff for power. Period. Pure partisan advantage. It's their gig, and a highly paid one it is.
All I'm asking is: why go along with them? What's it getting you? They're helping themselves, at least. Who are you helping?
